River Manor Boutique Hotel

At walking distance to the town's centre with all its attractions and restaurants... An oasis of elegance and discretion. Rooms distributed in two small victorian buildings - all can be recommended. Unfortunately, the two pools were rather cold - but not their problem ;-) An excellent breakfast buffet is enhanced by a la carte dishes. To be pointed out: eggs Benedict and avocado toast. Very attentive staff members - thank you! The possibility to park your car in the yard enhances your flexibility and security.

We absolutely loved our four night stay and all the staff and the service were excellent. The hotel is situated in picturesque central Stellenbosch which is only a short walk to the numerous restaurants. The staff organised a wine tour for us which we thoroughly enjoyed as we did a late afternoon laze by the pool in the lovely surroundings. Perfect!

We stayed here for just one night before catching a flight home. We really wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel itself is a nice looking comfortable place in an excellent quiet location on the edge of town with the main attractions and a lot of good quality bars and restaurants only a short walk away. However, for me, the stand out feature was the excellent staff for whom nothing was ever too much trouble. We will definitely come back on our next trip and would thoroughly recommend to others.

Location perfect for a stroll into Stellenbosch. Atmosphere. Very Friendly and Homely. Rooms Bright and airy. Received a very warm welcome. Staff extremely helpful. Off street parking. 2 Pools to relax in. Highly Recommend. We then went to Chapter House in Franschhoek. Which has been refurbished and extended. Central to shops and eateries. Very Comfortable. Then on to the Majeka in Stellenbosch A larger property than previous two. Heated Internal and external pools available. Food selection for breakfast and evening meals excellent. Planned refurbishment and additions to be underway this winter. Highly Recommend. One to watch out for. Our next Stay was the Tree House in Green Point Cape Town. Quirky entrance. But very welcoming and accommodating. Private balcony’s with sea views. Courtesy transport available on request. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay there. Then on to the Zest Hotel which is also part of the Living Journey Boutique Hotel Group. This was our last and was within easy walking distance to eateries etc. Roof top solarium a bonus. That was 5 Living Journey hotels we visited February this year and would recommend any of them. All had there idiosyncrasies, same door bell tone. Above all warm and welcoming reception from all.

This hotel consists of 2 houses, next door to each other with 2 small pools, with a few rooms in the garden by the pool. My wife and I stayed in room 3 which was fantastic, with my girls in room 7 by one of the pools. Big shout out to Athobile who looked after us during our 4 nights stay. Breakfast was nice, with help yourself pastries and fruit along with a cooked breakfast menu, which can be eaten inside or outside. The hotel is 3 mins safe walk to the Main Street in Stellenbosch where we spent each evening. We found Stellenbosch very busy during the day with people eating and drinking, with most restaurants busy early evening, as they seem to close a lot earlier than the UK. We walked back at 10 or 11 each evening and it felt safe. Parking wise there is space for around 8 cars on the drive in front of the 2 buildings. There is also a small spa room where we all enjoyed a nice massage. Defo recommend !

Beautiful location, room and bathroom were both very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast and Lunch by the pool was just excellent. The garden for breakfast was so calming and post breakfast the multiple seating areas under shade made a lovely time for just a realxing tea/coffee before the day began. Complimentary afternoon tea and cake was a very nice add and made the whole experience feel like a home from home. The tour guide was excellent and he enabled us get the most from our stay in this beautiful area of SA. Recommend highly.

We received a warm welcome and room looked comfortable. Unfortunately, the bathroom was shabby and this was supposed to be a superior room - but the bathroom was unwelcoming and nowhere near an acceptable standard. Bare window with grubby glass and sealant, shower the same with a big chunk out of the tray, sink taps were loose, no bath mat, grubby door, paint splatters all over floor, wardrobe handle fell off. We drew attention to this and they said no one had complained! They sent maintenance to secure taps and handle. We don’t complain for no reason !

We absolutely loved our stay at River Manor. The location was ideal — excellent access to the town, yet just a tiny walk, enough away to feel private and peaceful. The atmosphere felt less like a hotel and more like coming home to a beautiful guest house, but with genuine privacy. The others clientele were friendly, and the overall environment felt safe, charming, and very relaxed. Breakfasts were a particular highlight — having them out by the pool under old shady trees, was such a pleasure. The pools were a real relief during the hot weather; returning after a day out felt like coming back to a little oasis. Every single member of staff were so friendly and accomodating !! River Manor Boutique Hotel is an exquisite experience. The staff is absolutely wonderful, and the accommodations are second to none. It is an easy walk to downtown, and I would highly encourage you to book a wine tour through the hotel. We had the absolute best time with Ishmael.
