Great atmosphere - reminded us of Hogwarts! Really nice restaurant with excellent food.

Good choice of breakfast items , cooked fresh and topped up.

Very tired accommodation, basic room facilities , two lights didn’t work, wine stains on the walls and mould in the bathroom.

The location was wonderful and all the staff very helpful.

Room 9 en suite had a strong odour of urine. Despite being clean it pervaded the room and the bedroom. The bathroom door was so close to the bed that it made the stay very unpleasant. It smelled as if there had been toilet flooding and under floor odour was awful. The morning breakfast was badly stocked with several key items significantly delayed while waiting to replenish. Staff were working hard and very professional but were let down by food supply. Congealed over cooked scrambled eggs and no veggie meat alternatives on offer, toast machine typical issues either underdone warm bread or burnt with second try .

My room in the East Wing first floor was basic but perfectly functional for what I wanted, a bed for the night. Secure, clean and warm it did the job. In fact so warm I had to turn the radiator off! The staff were lovely.

The breakfast was okay for a buffet style affair on the weekend and then cooked to order for the weekday I stayed. The only egg option on the weekend at the service table was scrambled, with it wet one day, not the other. I would have liked to have had more continental breakfast options like cheese, meats and boiled eggs, fresh bread etc.

Unfortunately my shower wasn't working very well,the hose was leaking everywhere and the shower tray wasn't draining away properly. Mentioned it to a staff member and straight away moved me to another room. I was up graded, very pleased with the new room.

Lovely quiet location with lots of history. Nice shower but the door leaked on to the floor. Nice clean towels.

The room was small and too warm with no temperature control. However we could open the window. TV also small and not working well. Remote control needed new batteries then after a while the TV stopped working altogether. The light was very bright. Only one bedside table and lamp.
