Liked the location

Quality of room was low for the price, tv didn’t work, bathroom tired and there was mould, bed v small and lighting too bright. Had a bad experience ordering food on firework night. Breakfast was very average, had to pay extra for decent coffee.

The location was amazing. Beautiful gardens and walks. Every restaurant had amazing food. The barn cinema was really cute. The buildings were beautiful as was the whole trip.

The Bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in! My partner travels all over the world for business, so has slept on hundreds of different beds to compare.

Beautiful location and historic building. Staff very helpful. I was supplied with an oil heater when my room was cold. The breakfast host was attentive and very pleasant, she provided vegan options for me.

My room was cold the first night, with no additional blankets to be found. It was a massive faff locking and unlocking heavy doors and going through an additional fire door to use the loo, particularly in the night. No drinking water in the room. Initially i was told to go to the pub for it, then after emailing guest services the next day I was told water in toilet tap was drinking water. That felt unsavoury in a nice hotel taking several trips to fill my glass in the toilet sink!

"Wanted to love it, beautiful building, needs more effort and new mattresses."

Beautiful location and helpful staff. Breakfast was nice. Walking around the grounds was wonderful. Bathroom was nice.

However our bed was very uncomfortable and small. The novelty of stay in an historic building is entirely spoiled by the very old mattress that was not fit for 2 people sleeping on it.

Lovely building & grounds

Rooms need updating. I appreciate it is an old building but a bit of TLC. New carpets, wash hand basin(cracks in ours)
