"No warning from the hotel"

There is no way to reach the hotel by car- you must reach by train - 30 francs per person!!!! The hotel refused to return our payment.

"Great position for skiing"

8.0

I broke my collar bone courtesy of a very inconsiderate skier in the first 30 minutes of my ski holiday The hotel staff were very kind and gave me a whole cubhoard full of extra pillows so I could get comfortable Staff were great breakfast got a bit boring after 3 days so probably would have had to eat out if there for a week

"Fantastic Classic Hotel"

10.0

I did a lot of research and Residence Brunner is the most affordable hotel in Wengen. My stay came to 110 Swiss francs a night. In Lauterbrunnen park your vehicle in the large parking garage located below the train station. Parking is 10 Swiss Francs per 24 hours. Take the train to Wengen which is around 6.50 Swiss Francs one way. When you debark at Wengen everyone has to walk to their hotel. It is a good 20 minute walk uphill from train station to Residence Brunner. This is a classic old school hotel and I love it. Hotel staff are very friendly and personable. Be warned the front desk may not be there when you arrive, you can call them on the phone though. The front desk is normally working at other areas of the hotel. The kitchen / bar area has a microwave and refrigerator that all guests share. The rooms are quite large with a spectacular view of the mountain. There is no A/C, TV or refrigerator in the room so bring your ipad or books. The Wifi is very strong in the room and there is no Wifi password. I reserved my room 6 monthes in advance so they gave me the upgraded room with the patio so I suggest you ask for patio room. This is a large, older hotel so there noise from other guests. I could hear the guests in room above me walking around all the time so suggest you ask for top floor if this bothers you. The restaurants in town are pricey but there is Co-Op grocery store at train station. Great free breakfast provided by hotel.

"Cozy hotel with friendly staff"

10.0

Great atmosphere with lovely staff who made us feel at home. Clean and cozy rooms, tastefully decorated. Slight issue with location though, located a bit far from the train station -- advise others to take a taxi on arrival (costs 18 CHF). But the view of Wengen town especially at night is spectacular. Overall, a memorable experience.

"Home from home hotel"

10.0

Lovely family run hotel with friendly and warm service. i stayed here before several years ago and I had no regrets going back. Superb views of The Jungfrau and adjacent mountains from the balcony . 10 mins stroll from the resort centre amongst chalets etc. Worth getting a taxi to the hotel as its a gentle incline Chf 18. An older style hotel with a relaxed atmosphere. use of microwave, tea / coffee supplies and use of fridge in the former bar area. Drinks can also be bought from reception . Don't expect The Ritz , just good value and home from home hospitality. Clean , comfortable and good value. I will return here on my next stay in Wengen.

"You cannot drive here"

4.0

Pros- nice hotel staff, beautiful area, halfway up the mountain if interested in going to the top; Cons- room smelled old and musty, internet not available in all rooms as advertised, and despite the map directions you CANNOT drive here; you must pay to park down the mountain, take the train, and then walk to the hotel (which is somewhat hidden at the end of the town).

"Do not stay at this hotel unless you know the area"

4.0

Never been to Switzerland, we arrived late in the evening. The hotel was unstaffed and had no direction. There was no television in the room. There was no assistance or concierge service. No restaurant or amenities at the hotel. It is family owned and the service was horrible. Will never recommend it to anyone. When one is visiting the country for the first time, it is expected to get assistance from the hotel staff. That assistance was not available at all. Horrible experience. In the future, we will find a real hotel where the staff is available to assist.

"Just the basics - barely......"

6.0

I picked this hotel based on past reviews but realized after the fact that the last review was in 2010. It cost $16 for a taxi to get from the train station to the hotel because its all uphill. I never saw any hotel staff with the exception of when we checked in and out, and both times I used the front desk phone to summon the owner. This hotel barely offers the basics - and if you want room service, forget it. Towels are provided after 2 days of usage, sheets are replaced after 5 days, and if you expect someone to come in and make up your room, it won't happen. If you leave it a mess, it's a mess when you come back. While the room was clean, it certainly wasn't decorated or furnished in a warm or welcoming way.. On the upside, it was clean and provided free internet in the lobby. If all you want is the bare minimum and nothing else, and price is a consideration to you, then this is your hotel.
