Hotel & Spa Poco a Poco

After declining our first room which was not good we were moved to a much improved room. The staff were very polite and helpful. I ordered a cocktail which took about 20 minutes to arrive (bar empty) and it was undrinkable. My husband who does not drink alcohol was very disappointed that they did not have any '0' beer. Location was good.

We were traveling around Costa Rica for a special holiday to celebrate our Golden Wedding anniversary. We stayed at Poco Poco in Monterverd for 4nights. When we arrived we were checked in by the lovely Lily . Who gave us a welcome drink . She took us to our room , well what a surprise when we entered our room . There was a beautiful balloon display on the bed and a special strawberry and chocolate sweet treat in the fridge. Thank you poco poco . The pool and jacuzzi area was just great. We also toasted marshmallows on the fire pit one evening which was special. The breakfast and patio area had a lovely view and very comfortable to sit and look out. We ate in the hotel restaurant a couple of times . Excellent setting , cuisine and service. If you are visiting this area stay at Poco Poco . This is an immaculate , unique boutique hotel. With such lovely kind helping staff.

From the moment we were greeted, we knew this was a special place. We were handed a "welcome drink" of lemonade with ginger and then walked around the property. The view and walking trail are nice. Happy hour is good. But it's the staff that makes you feel like you're home. They were helpful with anything we asked. Oh, and the breakfast ... the pineapple ... the orange juice ... the food. Take your time and soak in the view.

Very nice property that feels small with all the amenties of the big resorts. Very well nice layout in the mountain with a nice pool, breakfast area, walking trail, and overall views.

We had a great stay at Poco A Poca. Great breakfast and a chill vibe make it the perfect stay for a few days to check out monteverde

This was such an amazing hotel. The staff was all incredible including Pamela at the front desk and Joshua at the restaurant on site, Otocuma. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Our room was the Quetzal suite right next to the pool and spa. It’s an easy walk to many restaurants and stores in town. Very centrally located for the many activities in the cloud forest.

All good, we really enjoyed our stay. Great, friendly and helpful staff. Especially Axel. We enjoyed the food and the hot tub too. Clean place! Thank you for your excellent hospitality. Will stay there again if back in the area ever. Thanks again

From the moment we arrived, concierge and staff at Hotel Poco a Poco treated us like this was a 5-star resort. We received a warm welcome and a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage upon check-in, setting the tone for the rest of our visit. Our room was tucked away on a peaceful lower level overlooking the garden and firepit, just steps from the walking path and pool. The onsite nature trails offered an opportunity to get in some exercise while exploring local flora and spot native birds without leaving the property. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, making it easy to arrange tours, including zip lining, and transportation. Thanks to Poco a Poco, we were introduced to a local driver who we used throughout our trip! The resort's location was another major plus because it is conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants and local shops including two grocery stores. Each morning began with a complimentary breakfast featuring a variety of delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, including standout dishes like huevos rancheros. If you plan to eat before heading out on a tour, be sure to allow plenty of time for a relaxed meal. While the pool is on the smaller side, it was very clean and had ample deck space for lounging. The hot tub can get very busy in the afternoon once tour goers return. Our room was spacious and thoughtfully designed. Since we were three adult women traveling together, we booked a room with three separate beds, which worked out perfectly. The bathroom was large and included a unique solarium garden beside the glass shower—such a beautiful touch. The room also came with a mini fridge, which was convenient for storing water and snacks we picked up at the grocery store across the street. We are so grateful to the staff at Poco a Poco for making the first stop on our trip to Costa Rica wonderful!

The public areas are great 5 star areas. Sadly the rooms are worn and need an uplift . Poor fitting doors. Rusty light fittings in the bathroom . Generally the rooms are tied . Small balcony no furniture. Staff very friendly. All public areas are great . Clean and very good . 5 star public areas . 3 star rooms sadly

We stayed for 2 nights as a stopover to go to the Monteverde Cloudforest Reserve. Poco a Poco is a very nice hotel with an attentive desk team (shout-out to Barbara). If it rains (and it didn't for us even though we stayed in the Green Season) there are covered walkways, pool and jacuzzi so you will not get wet moving around the hotel. What we loved most was the breakfast room and terrace overlooking the beautiful gardens. The gardens are rich in wildlife and there is a trail around which is definitely worth doing. Emerald Toucanets nesting in the old tree opposite were so beautiful to watch. The hotel is in the town of St Elena (just on the edge) and there is a wide choice of eating places and cafes easily walkable. St Elena has a really nice laid back vibe. We enjoyed the delicious happy hour cocktails made from local ingredients.
