I arrived here on business, and was told that this was the best Western 5 start hotel in the area.
How disappointed was I when I arrived!
The air-conditioning is not switched on, and the rooms now (some two weeks later) are now fit to grow to be leased out as greenhouses, the temperature reading this week was 29 degrees!
In order to compensate for the lack of cooling, the hotel in it's wisdom, decided to open the windows 'too cool the rooms down'! Stupid....
Not only is this ineffective but it allows the sounds of the local vehicles, which operate 24/7, and must solely rely on their car hons as means of communicating, signalling, urging other motorists to move a millisecond sooner, even at stupid o'clock in the morning, 7 days a week!
This is not solely the bane of the lower floors, even up at the gods on the 21st floor which is further away from the heat and chaos below, it still suffers equally as bad from the heat and noise as the lower floors!
And when you are entered into the execute lounge, by means or paying for the privilege, it is a complete waste of money!
Here you are allowed to enjoy the buffet laid on, and a few drinks, which you have paid a lot for, yet the catch is, is that it is the same food day in day out, no variation from, chips, sausage, prawn crackers, noodles, mashed yuk (potatoes) salad and cheese.
All these delightful foods are brought up cold. these are then placed under a thermal lamp to warm them up, which takes an age, and then once at the right temperature continue to cook until they are inedible. The french stick or 'iron bread' as it is better know in our circles, which after 15 mins from being laid out, and baked to a hardness close to a diamond, is then hard enough to be used as a hammer, with which to drive these golden long potato shaped 'nails' into the walls after being heated treated by the these lamps, even a diamond blade would find it difficult to cut both these items.
Then there are the drinks, while there is plenty of soft drinks in the fridge, kept extremely cold,this are also spirits available to mix with them. But now some 10 days after the last can of Heineken was sacrificed on the alter of extreme thirst there is no more! Now we are left with warm cans of Tsingtao beer - which is just like make love in a canoe - 'know what I mean!!
But it is not only the executive lounge that suffer from the same fate with the food, oh no..the breakfast suffer worse than this.
Some how they have managed to destroy the law's of physics. How can something that has been cooked thoroughly on a hot plate, before being placed not more than 1 metre (three foot) away from the source of this heat, be colder than the items on the salad bar!
The beans are at best disgusting, cold and hard enough to piece armour plating, the fried potatoes, when fried are raw, The fried tomato is cooler than the salad kind, even under the hot, burning sun of the heat lamp and the underneath hot plate all the food is COLD!
But the piece de resistance must go to the fried eggs! These fried eggs are nothing like you seen before or tried to eat! How can you take a simple food and cook, fry, char, barbecue such an item out of all reckoning, these people can, and they do it the same every-morning, day in day out the same.
These egg chefs here are a breed apart from humanity, they must be as these eggs are supposed to be white with a yellow bit in the middle, and not black like it has been fried on charcoal. I don't think it would that bad if it was cremated on a pile of rubber tyres!
The rooms are dated and well worn and need some refurbishment. the bathroom etc.needs a through going over.
On a positive side the staff are very friendly and helpful at the front desk, but this does not make up for it shortcomings else where.
