Base Serviced Apartments - Cumberland Apartments

Booked our stay and paid the appartments in full. Emailed the appartments 2 days before out stay to apologise as we could no longer travel due to ill child. No reply! Their customer service is so bad they hadnt the courtesy to reply! We have lost our money for flights and appartments...only place ive ever booked that couldnt have accomodated us to amend booking due to unforseen circumstances!

The check-in point is very far away from the apartment, which took about 20 minutes walk from the apartment to the reception for the keys. Also, 250 pounds were needed as deposit. The room is spacious and clean. We were impressed by the facilities of the kitchen.

The apartment itself was nice and tidy with the exception of a slightly smoky smell in the entryway of the flat. However everything else was very tidy. The issue here though, as others have mentioned, is the distance between the check-in office and the actual flat. I think staff should either meet guests outside the flat or at the least provide a car service from the office to the flats as its a bit ridiculous to have to get a cab or walk with heavy bags just to collect keys. Also, a key drop box would be more convenient rather than returning all the way across town again to check out. The check out time is also a bit early as most hotels/apartments tend to do 11am, especially considering the checkout office is across town.

The basics were well covered with the exception of WiFi; a mobile data dongle was available reception at an extra cost. The kitchenette was clean and the applicances were working. The couches sunk quite a bit when sat in and the bed was very creaky. A noisy bar across the way close around 11pm each night but with a central location you shouldn't expect a very quite night anyway.

I stayed on Tuesday and Wednesday night, and it was pretty quiet. An extra walk to pick up the keys, but other than that it was convenient. Comfy bed, fully equipped kitchen. It was a good central location too. I was happy.

The key / check ind is at the other part of town. This would be nice to know when making the booking.

Would never stay there again, the worst apartment I have stayed in in the 8 years I have been using self catering.

If you are working, the apartments are a great alternative to a hotel room, with much more room and a complete kitchen while saving money. I know these apartments have mixed reviews, but, this is my second stay in them and I will book again next week. The apartments I stayed in were all large, with plenty of room to be comfortable for an extended stay, on the negative side, they are starting to look a bit shabby in places and are short of hanging space and coat hangers, but the Kitchen has everything you need, with a cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher. The location is both good and bad, it is a few minutes walk from all the main areas, shopping, restaurants and business areas, but it is down an alley way which looks dingy and can be noisy. The administration staff are friendly and helpful, however, the 15 minute walk to collect your key and the £150 deposit to stay are both a right pain in the proverbial. Having said all of that, I will definitely stay again, having the luxury of a large space to stay and work way outweighs any negatives.

good central location but was not advised of noisy area with a night club opposite that plays music till 6 am . double glazing non existent in bedroom so could hear music and talking even thou we were 2 floors up. if you want to sleep at night would not advise these apartments.
