"Wonderful hotel with lots of charm and character"

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel over the weekend. The hotel itself is beautiful, full of amazing history, and perfectly located—just a short five‑minute walk to the castle and close to everything we needed. Our room was lovely, quiet, and very comfortable, with great facilities. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They even acknowledged my husband’s birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch and really made our stay special. We also enjoyed a nice drink and some snacks in the bar area. Parking was easy, even though spaces are limited, and we had no issues at all. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel. We’d happily stay again.

Satisfactory

Dinner service was awful, one waitress with an untrained helper run off their feet. Had to wait 50 minutes to be served. The bar had run out out of light ale only dark and lager available. Mould around shower base in bathroom. All this has already been forwarded and reported to the hotel feedback.

Historic building. Staff attentive. Dinner good.

Detail cleaning bedroom poor. Dead flies on window sills inside bedroom . Bathroom grouting and door frames grubby. Needing refurbishment in both public areas and bedrooms.
