Monteverde Country Lodge

Monteverdi Country Lodge was very nice stop on our first trip to Costa Rica. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful and kind, and that alone made the stay 5 stars in my book. The room was clean and comfortable. My only small complaint were a slight lack of electrical sockets in our room. We made do, but given how dependent we all are on our devices, a few more would have been nice. Also, the location is set back from the main road, so the location would not really be considered walkable to anything but local restaurants. That being said we had a car for the daytime, and the lovely staff called us taxis in the evening, problem solved. The property itself is lovely for sitting outside for drinks or a meal, and again, the staff are top notch!

This property has the feel of a mountain lodge. It feels very relaxing. That also means it won’t be a 5 star hotel with all those amenities. For what it offers high up in the mountain, we are very appreciative. The hot water can run cold if too many people use at same time ( a common issue anywhere) but it will heat up after peak usage.

Stayed here for two nights as part of our Exodus Discover Costa Rica tour. Clean and comfortable accommodation. However, we were offered a different room as there was a persistent "whistling" noise in the plumbing of our bathroom. Breakfast was enjoyable with plenty of choice. Nice restaurant where we also ate evening meal. Safe provided in the room. The local birdlife was great. Quite a walk to the shops and very hilly, but perfectly do-able.

Lodge was beautifully landscaped and all employees we encountered were friendly and helpful. It is obvious that they take much pride in their property. Enjoyed bird watching right from our porch. The room is not fancy, but just right for us. Would definitely recommend.

Nice place in general but various issues including difficulty checking-in (could not find our reservation), lousy service at the restaurant and food not that great, no coffee for breakfast one morning after being told for 40 minutes that there would be some in two minutes, reception staff not overly familiar with tours, and cleaning staff very loud outside starting at 6:00 am!

We stayed here for two nights as part of an organised tour. On arrival we had a wonderful welcome drink and our luggage was promptly delivered to our room - 72. The gardens are well manicured and pleasant to sit in - if it isn't windy and or raining. There are table and chairs to sit outside your room under cover. Our room had two double beds in and were comfortable. I found the pillows a little hard, but my hubby liked them. The bathroom had a nice glass enclosed shower cubicle and toiletries. The towels seemed new and fluffy. The room and all of the lodge was well maintained, which I cannot say about other places we have stayed at. The restaurant for breakfast was a short walk away. Breakfast had both hot and cold options as well as fruit, yogurt and drinks. The staff are wonderful, polite, respectful and always smiling. Of the hotels / lodges we have stayed in thus far on our tour this one has many positives and others could learn from them on how to do it well.. Across the road is a restaurant where we had dinner one evening and lattes too. Very reasonable and delicious. I think it was called De Lucia - it has a red roof and you can see if from the car park.

Very basic hotel. Overpriced given how basic it was. Clean but no fan or windows that opened so had to have the door open for air. Our room was At the top of the stairs and overlooked the courtyard. Noisy with staff cleaning up late at night and then setting up at 530 am.

We had two nights at this lodge as part of an organised tour. Staff were very welcoming on arrival and the room was comfortable with a huge bed. Room wasn't serviced on the second day and there didn't feel anywhere comfortable to sit and relax out of the rain (it rained a lot whilst we were there!). Breakfast was good with a decent selection but the coffee was awful. There is a sister hotel in the town where we could have used the pool but we never managed to. Some excellent restaurants a short walk into town, particularly the Choco Cafe - great food, coffees and service.

It was beautifully decorated. Restaurant was very delicious!

Excellent breakfast buffet; also enjoyed dining room in the evening; convenient location and walkable into town; room was appropriate and as expected.
