The Menai Hotel and Bar

My daughter and I stayed at the hotel, whilst paying my son a visit at Uni, The Hotel room was clean and modern, The beds were comfortable. The Hotel is a pub, but it was still quite quiet. The breakfast was ok. The staff werent really around, but were very pleasant when they were.

The owner has plans to get the Menai really up together! I hope he manages it and then it will be a really great place to stay! Very quiet there with lovely glimpses of the Menai Strait. Not far to walk to town or the Strait

DO NOT book yourself into this dump! The Menai should not be called a Hotel. Its a dirty, filthy run down pub with a couple of rooms upstairs. The bathroom was filthy, with a 50's green tile décor. There was soup residue in the soap tile, the frame of the shower screen was made from wood and was rotting, tiles were missing next to the bath tub, the bin under the sink was rusting. The ledge to close the window was broke.n The pub downstairs had live music playing until 1.30. And then some! After the music stopped staff started to clean up until about 2.30. Slamming doors, making loads of noise. Once it got quiet around 3am we could hear people snoring in the next room. The walls at the place are paper thin. There was a build in hair drying but the thing could not be used because the hand piece had no hose. This must be the worse hotel in all of Wales. We booked for 2 nights but left after 1. Even checking out was messy. None of the staff was anywhere to be found in the morning and when we looked for the manager he was getting it on upstairs. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. AVOID like the plague.

The hotel staff could not have been friendlier and are the largest contributory factor in my positive review. I would definitely stay there again. No complaints at all about the hotel itself and its facilities.

Check in was good. But when we got into our room the window was open, and it was blowing a gale which made the room cold and the heating didn't come on until 8pm. We asked the owner about the window. He came to try and shut it but it wouldn't so all he said was about heating coming on soon. No offer to put us in a room that the window shut. Disappointed.

Very good value for money , for uni visit. One of the best hotels I have stayed in and stayed in plenty over the last two years that was clean, nice breakfast and entertainment, well done.
