"More of a B&B than a Hotel, close to university"

6.0

Looking back on our experience here, I am uncertain as to whether this website should class this establishment as a three star hotel. It's more of a student pub with a B&B operating as a bit of an afterthought. As a B&B it meets expectations. As a three star hotel, I am more uncertain. We have stayed exclusively at 3 star places on this trip (London, Bangor, Liverpool, and Glasgow). This spot was the weakest performer in several areas. The place needs a putty knife and a bucket of drywall filler. There were quite a few dings in the walls in our room. I would probably get those filled and sanded down, even if I didn't have time to paint them right away. A cat like me would appreciate that the folks running the show at least had a plan to get around to it. It's a cheap and easy first step to solving that problem. Also, some door handles would be a nice touch. Drill, screws, and hardware and you're off to the races. The wooden frame that supports the glass panel on the tub was rotten. I would have ripped that out immediately, given people's paranoia about mold and such. Then I would have put in a curtain rod arrangement and a mold-resistant/easy-clean curtain until I found the proper solution for that frame problem. Rather than use wood for the frame in the future, I would use metal or perhaps a particularly rot-resistant wood, such as teak or a fine oak with the appropriate amount of resin/oil to seal it properly. Dab some silicone on the screws before fastening them...

"Good"

Not the easiest place to get to due to the one way system that they have round that part of town. The hotel could do with an up date and new carpets wouldn't go a miss.

Wanted a hotel close to center of Bangor for a night out. Very convenient location for that. Had access to come and go as I pleased at any time. Staff were pleasant.

"Reasonable Hotel/pub in the centre of Bangor"

6.0

Very handy for the town center. Very noisy bar full of students which is fine for the atmosphere but not if you want peace and quiet, couple of pool tables. The main problem was that there was no heating in the room, it was literally freezing, had to sleep in a jumper. Quite limited range of beers if you like a drink. Breakfast choice was somewhat limited. It is good value and cheap to bed down for the night which is all I wanted really.

"Excellent experience living in the hotel"

8.0

I was there early and the manage let me to check in early. He upgraded my room from single to double. All of the staff are so nice and helpful. The only problem is the heater was not warm at night. however, after I talked to the manager, he brought me another electric heater. Therefore, problem has been solved quickly. The father of the owner is really nice to offer me a coffee when I have the breakfast. The view of the room is amazing and everything in the room is beautiful. I was recommended by a friend to live in this hotel and I would recommend to more friends as well.

"very pleased with stay"

10.0

We had a two night stay to visit our son at Uni. The staff were all very pleasant, helpful and polite. The food was great. As some reviews had said decor a bit dated but room very clean and comfortable, recent new owners about to start a refurbishment I was told, so It will get better. Definatley be returning here next year. Good location for walking and visiting Anglesey and North Wales's beautiful scenery.
