The Birley Arms Hotel

Food was good, service good also. Lack of spare toilet paper a surprise. After talking about it: an oversight not a policy. Shame also about quiz night. As a man by himself, I would have liked to join in. But the organiser went to the regulars to ask if they wanted to partake, and ignored me. Shame. So went to bed and did not spend money in the bar. Also, in four nights, fire alarm went off on two nights. Get it fixed! The 'balcony' advertised as being part of the room is an emergency exit and raised table area - shared. Who gets the table first!

Comfortable room, a little bit dated but lovely toilet and shower and very comfortable bed. Very pleasant breakfast waitress and cleaner.

Quiet location. Staff available at all times but not overly intrusive.

Birley arms is beautiful. Staff are all friendly . The food is lovely and the room is clean well presented and modern. We will defiantly come again

Room fine, though my room request was ignored. Lack of staff meant slow service. Dining and breakfast experience poor. 1/2 hr to wait for breakfast service and some breakfast items were not freshly cooked and were dried up.

Staff and room excellent. Very quiet and peaceful Would highly recommend
