Balito apartments

There were some out of control hiccups here and there (AC remote control ran out of battery, insect got in the room) at the start of our stay but they were very responsive to fix them. Full breakfast is highly recommended.

Very friendly staff at the restaurant, they helped me with everything that I asked and was extremely kind. The food was also good and breakfast cheap. The rooms were ok but nothing special, clean and perfect for a solo traveller like me who isnt spending a lot of time in the room. The hotel was located up on a hill in Kalamaki therefore I would maybe not recommend it if you dont like to walk or dont have a car. You walk down to the beach, restaurants and bus in 10-20 minutes. To Platanias and Hania it took around 10-15 minutes with taxi that costs 10-15€, but i recommend the local busses that costs 1-3€.

Nous avons adoré la salle de bain ( assez moderne ). Nous avons trouvé qu'il manquait de l'espace surtout pour loger 5 personnes ( 4 adultes et un enfant ). Déçu par la vue et la terrasse. Établissement bien entretenu et propre ( nettoyage tous les jours ). Piscine agréable. Menu du petit déjeuner un peu décevant. Nous n'avons pas pu goûter aux plats proposés le soir car fermé déjà à 20h (??)hôtes agréables .

Rent og pent hotell med hyggelig personale. God standard på hotellrommene og koselig bassengområde.

Meget fint appartmenthotel til prisen. Ok lejlighed og senge, der manglede dog en del køkkenudstyr, men værterne var søde til at hjælpe. Balkonerne var små og aflange hvilket gjorde det svært at sidde sammen og spise fx morgenmad. Skøn og meget ren pool. Bil anbefales .... det ligger lidt afsides og alligevel meget tæt på både Chania by og agia Marina/platanias.

Appartement très confortable, équipement neuf. Seul bémol : le balcon est inutilisable car il donne directement sur les balcons voisins. l'appartement est indiqué "avec vue", et ce n'est pas le cas. La vue est sur les toits. En se mettant sur la pointe des pieds, on peut deviner la mer au loin...

This was our first stay at Balito, but it certainly won’t be our last. This is a small family run business of 22 apartments in a pretty complex with lovely pool area and small bar. Owner Angelo and his wife Fiona, along with their son/manager George and his soon-to-be-wife Jennifer, are a charming and hardworking team who are dedicated to the comfort and wellbeing of their guests. The hotel’s studios/apartments vary in size, according to guest requirements. Ours had a separate bedroom with the most comfortable queen size bed. There was also a single bed, and a sofa bed in the open plan kitchen/lounge. The shower room was recently decorated with very attractive tiles, and modern bathroom fittings. A fully enclosed shower with plenty of room to move offered the most delightful shower experience we’ve had in a long time, due to amazing water pressure and shower head! The rooms were kept spotlessly clean on a daily basis by very friendly and helpful housekeeping staff. Fresh towels were supplied as and when needed, and crisp cotton bedding was replaced every three days. Very comfortable loungers surround the spotlessly clean pool, and towels are available for guests to borrow from the pool bar. It is also possible to take meals by the pool. A simple menu is available throughout the day. This includes a wondrous full breakfast which has to be tried, and is great value at €6 inclusive of fresh orange juice and coffee. Not to be missed either are Jennifer’s signature Moussaka and Patstitsio dishes, probably the best we’ve had anywhere on the island and beyond! The quality of the food served is excellent and prepared individually, using locally sourced ingredients. (It is probably best to give a few hours notice if you wish to take a cooked evening meal.) As mentioned already, the menu is simple, but this is first and foremost a small self-catering complex, so the availability of any menu is a bonus, and you will always be guaranteed fresh and appetising food. Within 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel you will find family-run restaurant Elia, with its authentic home-cooked Greek cuisine, and there are also plenty of cafes/restaurants around the area, many offering a takeaway service with free delivery. From Balito it is about 15 minutes by car to the centre of Chania town, and there is a local bus service which can be picked up within 50 metres of the hotel. There are plenty of beaches, cafes and bars in the vicinity of Galatas, and also as you travel both east and west along the coast road. We found Balito met all our requirements for a totally relaxing holiday, being so close to Chania, the sandy beaches and the national highway, and yet far enough away from traffic noise and busy locations. We were lucky enough to be staying at Balito for one month, and it truly felt like being with family. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We are so looking forward to going back again and actually booked for September before we left!
