Waiorau Homestead

Beautiful grounds and facilities nicely kept up and clean with access to living and dining areas. Most delightful and personable hosts. There were cookies, tea and fruits on arrival, and chocolate and water in our bedroom. Bountiful and delicious breakfast. Would have loved to stay longer and have a dinner on premise.

The bedroom, lounge area, outdoors and all facilities were first class.

Comfy 2 bed room. Large bathroom (across hallway but it’s private). Lovely large living room for guests. Sweet dog and cat to visit with. Fabulous breakfast. Dinner cooked by Blyth was amazing and reasonable. Also good food at Cardona hotel. We had hoped to do more walking but heavy rains led to raging streams that blocked our attempt to do the hill walk near the house. We did do a pleasant walk along the edge of lake Wanaka.

Not the fault of our hosts but the next stage of our journey was to cross Haast pass to west coast.The heavy rains meant they closed the pass and we were stopped just as we started to drive over it. Landslides and flooding. Police told us it would be closed for at least 2 days and other passes to west coast also closed so we had to pivot, cancel west coast plans, and retrace our steps back along east coast to Oamaru and Christchurch :(

Prefer a buffet style breakfast rather than set table sitting with others

Absolutely delightful stay. The property with mature trees and blossoms and view of the snow mountains were just wonderful. The house was warm and snug, with roaring fire and bottle of wine. Sumptuous breakfast served professionally by host who has been a chef.

There are really no complaints at all.

Great location in the Cardrona Valley, beautiful views in a lovely peaceful setting. We had a lovely relaxing time, very friendly atmosphere with hosts. A+

Stunning location surround by mountains literally at the bottom of the Cardrona ski field access road. Fantastic, lovely and genuine hosts. The breakfast included was delicious. I cannot fault any part of our stay.
