"Gem of a hotel, ideal base for exploring the area!"

10.0

Gem of a hotel, ideal base for exploring Northumbria. The staff and service were excellent. We had a lovely room with huge bed and walk in shower. Lots of attention to detail and really well furnished. The breakfast was delicious with generous portions of locally sourced produce - the Craster kippers were to die for! We also ate in the restaurant the evening before and would highly recommend. Thank you to the staff, Dave and his team, at The Percy Arms for making us feel so welcome! 😀

"Just ok "

6.0

Check in was good and the room was clean and comfortable but a bit noisy from the bar until late. The food was disappointing, starter bread with dipping balsamic, olive oil and hummus was served without the balsamic and olive oil. When questioned we was told they had run out of it! Very dry bread indeed. The lady on the next table returned her meal as it was cold and her partner had finished his meal before they returned. My eggs Benedict at breakfast was also cold and when i discreetly mentioned it i was told well ham is cold before she took it away. Overall the place was ok however it was let down by the service at meal times.

"Pleasant but not perfect"

8.0

Overall a pleasant visit to the Percy Arms, we visit the sister pub The Northumberland Arms quite frequently although only for food so knew what to expect there. If I had to summarise the stay was fine, nothing over and above. We had some small niggles that did somewhat detract from the stay but having said that if I needed to stay in the area again it wouldn't put me off. Slight niggles Service - When having the food on the evening we never had anyone checking everything was OK with the meal until after - also when our mains were brought out we requested some sauce that never came. Again if a fairly standard check was undertaken just after getting the meals this would I'm sure have been rectified, however, I did not want to venture to track down a member of staff as the bar was busy (Six Nations). Room - Again overall the rooms are very nice, clean and modern. However we were staying in a deluxe room (or what it was called) and found our blanket to have some brown marks on it - upon closer inspection my partner believed it to be slight burn marks from a pair of straighteners - having read previous reviews this seems to be a fairly established point and to be honest for the cost of a new blanket I'm not sure why this hasn't been sorted. However on a plus, comfortable beds, friendly staff, great breakfast and overall a nice atmosphere too. Like I say the slight niggles are just that, however did somewhat detract from the stay!

Really enjoyed our 3 night stay at The Percy Arms. The staff could not have been more friendly and the room was very comfortable and beautifully refurbished. We had everything we needed and will definitely be recommending it and hopefully visiting again.
