Soramba Hotel

I stayed here for one night and I was very glad that they had the free shuttle to the airport. I spent a lot of money getting to the hotel because I did not know they had a shuttle. Excellent Internet speed - but its not wireless. The rooms are clean but old.

The food is very good

A nice hotel with helpful staff. Clean and comfortable. Free high speed internet and tv (though with maybe only 5 channels). As a single traveler, I was pleased to find a nice restaurant and cafe on site as it is not particularly safe to walk around by oneself at night and I often got back from work after dark. A 10 minute taxi to the National Museum area cost around 100 birr (roughly 6 US dollars) though some would try to charge more. A ready supply of taxis outside made getting around easy. Also within close walking distance of the Addis Ababa restaurant. They also have a free hotel shuttle which I did not know about when I arrived, but used when I left. A decent savings from the approx. $20-25 USD taxi ride from the airport.

Water pressure to low, mattress to hard, king size bed to small......

All things good, but the staff really could not help with things like how to get to other cities, even basic info. But rooms were great

Easy check in; basic but clean and for $30 extended access to my room for 7 hours for late airport departure.

Soramba is located in the old part of the town. You can take a blue taxi for a cheap price to anywhere in town. The area is safe, as seem all areas to be in Addis and the staff is incredibly nice. If you can't find your things it is because you misplaced them. The staff is being checked before leaving the hotel, which is good for both your and their safety. rooms are clean and very well kept. The hotel is up on a small hill so the air is nice. It is located in the old part of town (Piazza) and a bit far from the modern part of Bole, but in taxi it takes 15 min. it is right next to the Cathedral where Haile Selassie was crowned and if you want to walk to Merkato (the largest market in Africa) it is a 20 minute walk. All staff were very kind to us, I guess if you you yourself treat people with a smile you will get one back. We arrived late at night and there was no shuttle. The taxi trip from the airport is not much. They provide a free shuttle at daytime and early night. We stayed three people in a room for 12 days and liked both the hotel and food. if you want to eat cheap local traditional food then don't be afraid to go across the road to the left (the pink little building). The staff were very pleasant and the restaurant and rooms fine. But the lamps in the room had no bulbs so it was difficult to read.

the gym is under construction with no completion date in the forecast, otherwise it was clean, the breakfast buffet was average, the room was nice and clean, location good in terms of being close to a shopping district especially if you like jewelry where the gold and silver items are a couple of blocks away, so it reminds you of most downtown districts with gift shops, tailors, restaurants,,,etc
