"A gem of a place"

9.0

Very comfy spacious room one of the best sleeps I’ve had on my travels. Lovely old English pub vibe with great restaurant food. Local bus stop outside. Fabulous country walks on the doorstep. Staff helpful and friendly. Real ale establishment which is nice to find too. I’ve already told friends and family about this gem of a place.

TV reception poor in the room always niggles me on my travels there are technical solutions if it involves a hill. A couple of coat hangers on the shelf or in a drawer would have been helpful - the hooks were good and useful. Unfortunately couldn’t use the toiletries provided as allergic to some ingredients but I always travel with my own so not an issue. Meals delicious although I found the breakfast menu a little quirky there was also an emphasis on sugary sauces someone has a sweet tooth here.

Food, pub atmosphere and the unique style of the rooms.

The weather could have been better, but I enjoy a rainy day and I am not convinced the staff control the weather..... Yet.

"Disappointed"

4.0

We went to the Running Horses today for a drink. We have been going for many years to both eat and sometimes for a drink. Today was chaotic. All the bar tables were reserved and there were no bar stools. The impression given is this is no longer a bar to come for a drink but 100% a restaurant. We are local and will no longer be recommending the Running Horses, which is rather shortsighted as verbal recommendation is key! One group in the bar were asked to move table as they had been given the wrong table initially, this may have been ok if they hadn’t already started their meal, it was not acceptable. A gentleman at the table next to us was of the same option, a regular for many years considering not coming back. The staff were obviously stressed and over worked! Please don’t be greedy with your table allocation, eating out is expensive and it should be an enjoyable experience not a rushed one!

"Get rid of the safety light or fix it."

6.0

Nice pub, nice food, nice staff.

The running horses was nice but the room had issues. The sink would back up. The shower never stopped dripping And in the room there was a safely light that when on every time you moved in bed so I didn't get any sleep. Which is not great what you stay in a hotel to sleep. Im still waiting to see what the venue is going to do about my not very impressive stay.
