The pre booking in form required all my passport details and seemed to require showing my passport on arriving. In fact it was not needed. I have never been asked for so much information by an English hotel. Not everyone travelling within UK holds a passport.

El entorno y la edificación

From moment we arrived on site, we could see that a wedding was on and parking was going to be a problem but member of staff was available and helped immediately with parking solution. Stayed in Elm House at the back of the main hotel. Lovely room, superb air conditioning when 30 degrees outside. Hotel has a nice bar and outside sitting area. Breakfast had a good selection and regularly refreshed. 10 mins uber to city centre. Quiet location.

The breakfast is amazing, the staff is very friendly, and the room is super comfy. We went to the city by bus and took a lovely 40-minute walk back along the canal—it was incredibly pleasant and peaceful. I highly recommend it!

Die Lage ist sehr schön, im Süden von Oxford, in einer sehr ruhigen Gegend, ganz nahe an der Themse, man kann in 30 min zu Fuss zu den Bootshäusern kommen und der Weg dorthin ist sehr schön. Das Hotel hat einen netten Garten mit Eichhörnchen. Die meisten Gäste kommen mit dem Auto und es gibt Ladestationen für eAutos. Die Erreichbarkeit mit dem Bus ist aber auch nicht schlecht, man muss von Iffley Turn aus noch einige Minuten zu Fuss laufen. Mit Gepäck ist ein Taxi zu empfehlen. Die Zimmer sind über mehrere Häuser auf dem Gelände verstreut und im Haupthaus gibt es eine schöne Bar mit netten Ledersesseln.

Das Personal war leider nicht so freundlich. Wir kamen zu früh und haben nach einem Early Checkin gefragt. Ich verstehe ja, wenn das nicht leicht ist, aber die Antwort hätte auch etwas netter ausfallen können als "Sie haben 15 Uhr gebucht und anders geht es nicht." Ähnliches dann in der Bar: lange kam keine Bedienung, man musste an der Rezeption nachfragen, bis jemand kam, und das an beiden Tagen, als wir dort waren. Das Frühstück war in Ordnung, auch wenn die Qualität (z.B. von Rührei und Schinken) nicht perfekt war. Unser Zimmer war leider etwas eng und im Parterre, also auch nicht optimal, mit Blick auf einen Hinterhof, der nicht wirklich aufgeräumt war. Sauberkeit und Betten waren gut. Insgesamt war das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis nicht so gut wie erwartet, für vier Sterne hätten wir als erfahrene Reisende mehr erwartet, unabhängig von der Zimmerkategorie.
