Seashell Resort Koh Tao

Its in a noisy area, music until late and close to motorbike traffic on the "walking street". No safe in my roomand a leaking toilet and vanity

Very nice and clean! Close to everything!

This resort was not what we expected for the price. On arrival the staff at reception were rude and not welcoming, not willing to answer our questions about breakfast. The bathroom was nice but the bed was really hard and uncomfortable. Our room wasn’t cleaned for the whole 4 nights despite us NOT putting a do not disturb sign up, the bins overflowed and as you can’t flush the toilet paper it had to go to the bin in the bathroom causing it to smell. Our room key card didn’t work well (room 403) took ages for our room to lock and open, we told the receptionist and they sorted it but it happened again straight after getting a new one. The pool had lots of debris, not even sure if it was cleaned.

We had an awful experience at the Seashell dive centre attached to the hotel, and are now out of pocket for 22,000 baht for courses that we couldn’t complete due to the behaviour of the centre manager. We booked and paid upfront for a day of fun dives and 2 AOW courses. After an awful experience where I became very cold and sick on the fun dives due to poor weather conditions and inappropriate kit, we asked to be refunded for the AOW or to wait until conditions were calmer. The manager said that we could not be refunded but could wait for calmer conditions and we extended our time by another week in order to wait for things to calm down. However, the following day we popped into the centre and the managers attitude was completely different, he was rude and difficult and following some very unpleasant interactions with him over the following few days, we took the decision to not go forward with the course. One of the instructors who witnessed the managers behaviour apologised on his behalf giving the excuse that he was in a bad mood as had broken up with his girlfriend ! It was evident that once he had our money, that he had no interest in delivering our course or providing any level of customer care. On the fun dive, kit was poor, with a thin shorty wetsuit provided that was not suitable for the weather conditions, no boots, fins that were too small as they didn’t have any other sizes. Our instructor however was dressed in a full wetsuit and boots etc as said he tends to get cold. There was no provision of snorkels despite PADI guidance stating that these are an essential piece of safety equipment and no basic first aid care / procedures provided for cold, sick customers. When we asked for snorkels, we were told that they are unnecessary and just get in the way. The manager has refused to give his name and diver number despite repeated requests which raises further alarm bells and he ignored all initial emails and messages. Finally, we received a response whereby he said that we had booked onto the course on 3 occasions and not attended. This was completely untrue as no date had been set for us to do it at all. The hotel (who we paid for the course) have not responded to any emails or messages in relation to our complaint and couldn’t have been less interested when I raised it with the reception staff at checkout. My advice is that if you go to Seashell hotel, please AVOID the dive centre. You might be ok if everything is straightforward and you get a good instructor, but if there is a problem then don’t expect any level of care or compassion. We had travelled to Koh Tao to do some fun dives and complete our AOW courses. Our experience at seashell dive centre has ruined our trip to this island. After some detective work, we have established that the dive centre managers name is Hasan Can Toker . I wonder what his reasons for hiding this are ! Again, not the actions of a professional and transparent dive centre manager. As for the hotel, it is a 6/10 at best. They know that the island is rammed so there is no need for any level of customer service or responding to messages. They simply don’t care as the hotel will be booked regardless as people have few other options. We saw people turning up having booked and being turned away as they had no room for them. The pool shown in the pictures is for the beachfront villa guests only and the main pool was green, mouldy, with broken decking and closed for the duration of our stay.

We had a really bad experience with this resort, we arrived in the resort and they didn’t have our booking. We’ve booked via booking.com and apperantly the room we booked wasn’t available anymore. They gave us the option to cancel our booking, but almost everything was sold out on the island so we didn’t then he said they have a different room for us. The room was horrible it was next to the reception and wasn’t even a room, it was a classroom where they had put some beds, it was horrible and the beds weren’t made (we arrived at 16.30). When the beds were made they also forgot to give us blankets and we had to ask foe them ourselves at recption also the airconditioning was really cold so we asked for the remote, but they didn’t know where it was and didn’t help us. Also the shared bathroom was gross, there were flies everywhere and it didn’t have any toiletpaper. Even though we got a room they just last minute set up we still had to pay the full price which I found really weird and also too much for what we got.

Booked three beds in the 6 person mixed dorm room advertised on booking.com. On arrival we paid (initially I paid local currency which worked out cheaper for me, but the lady at reception said it would be cheaper to may in my own currency, so she refunded the transaction straight away and took the amount in GBP - which was more than I had paid in local). We were then shown to the room - which was not the one we had booked, it had 10 beds in it, no lockers, a smelly toilet and shower. It was not clean. I asked for the room to be refunded as we were going to stay elsewhere and she said no refunds are available, as it was a non-refundable room. I asked where the room is that we had booked and showed the pictures and they explained it was fully booked. At this point the lady said she would refund the room and just put the request through booking.com and she will do it straight away. As I type this I have only just received the refund but booking.com have had to pay me as Seashell Resort have failed to refund or communicate with booking.com on the matter. Terrible attitude and service from start to finish when dealing with us. Overall the place was run down and not as advertised.

This place sounds like a nice resort online but the reality is totally different. The staff we unfriendly, unhelpful and looked like they hated their jobs (all except a young man on reception who was polite and helpful). The pool was green and looked like it doesn’t get cleaned so we didn’t use it, which was a real shame. Our room smelt strongly like damp and the beds were hard as wooden planks. The room was very dark and had lots of mosquitoes all the time. There were also dead bugs squashed all over the walls which hadn’t been cleaned. The resort is a building site which was not clear when booked. We paid the same as we had done to stay in Bandara resort in Koh Samui, thinking there were a similar standard - but unfortunately this was not the case. The only positive is the location, very close to all the restaurants and shops and sairee beach. Overall - don’t book this place, you’d be better off in a cheap bungalow somewhere else.

The location was good. I think they overbooked so instead of the dorm hostel room which I was expecting, I was put in a small 3 bed room. It was quiet.

The bathroom room facility was awful. The toilets didn't flush, the outside sink area was always wet. The water runs out the sink onto the ground. Showers had small swinging doors and were located where anyone could walk past. Didn't use the pool because the water was so cloudy you couldn't see the bottom.
