Henann Resort Alona Beach

The foremost requirement of any good hotel is to accommodate guests' reasonable requests. This hotel has a serious culture of saying "no" to everything that is not prescribed: - Can we please check with the chef to see if we can get a sweet corn soup? The response was, sorry sir, it is not on our menu, and we can not. -the breakfast buffet has a sign- if you leave food they will charge you 300 pesos {see the picture}. -Can you have a Bloody Mary? I'm sorry, sir. It is not on the menu, so we can not. -Can we have an early check-in? We have had an overnight flight and are dead-tiered; intact, we had raised a request while booking that was not replied to. Their response: Sorry, sir. Our policy is 3 pm check-in; you will have to come then. My rejoinder: That's okay, but why were we not informed about our request? They basically don't care. - Hello room-dining, we got back late fron the sightseeing, and after freshening up we tried ordering food but the QR Code did not work. Thus we are calling to order food. Thier response, sorry last order is 9:45 pm and we are at 9:55 pm. We can not serve you now. After a lot of pressure the did but it is about the whole experience around it. It's certainly not a luxury resort experience when you have a lot of rules, dos and don't. It feels like you are in a boarding school and very unwelcoming. Even if they accommodate after a push back, the whole process is a bit bitter. Their breakfast is so repetitive and focused on catering only Asian guests. No room for vegetarians and vegans either. Internet is slow, and work related calls etc gets disrupted. However, there are a few brighter sides: -save for how the staff is trained to say no, they are generally nice. One person comes to mind as a truly customer service oriented person, was Titus from the bar at the beach. He certainly made our stay more welcomed and helped us with many requests. - food and drinks are not expensive. -Hotel is otherwise clean and comfortable. -Nice access to beach and multiple swimming pools. However, I would not be opting for the resort again.

Wonderful property

You can’t go wrong with this resort. Staff is great, Rooms are spacious, breakfast is varied, it’s on the beach, the pool is a beautiful sight. The restaurant we used for breakfast and dinner buffet - Sea Breeze - was right on the beach as well. Option of indoor or sitting on tables on the sand by the beach. At night, a wonderful live band accompanied the dinner buffet playing on the beach front. All the bands in the Phillipines we came across were amazing - and they know good music from all generations. The one playing at this resort was no exception and took requests! The ambiance of being beach front with great live music on one side and the pool on the other can’t be beat. The town is right outside the hotel gates. You will find bars, restaurants, souvenir stores, Philippine indigenous fast food chain - Jollibee, as well as a rare McDonalds if you are homesick for some western food. Again, the quality of music of the bands in these hideaway bars were great. We were found a nice one with a sign at the start of the shop collection - Rue De Premier. There were a collection of shops in there and a fire show. The little but lively town made it a mini adventure to explore around the hotel - even at night. All assured that it was safe and we experienced no incidents or harassment. When the travel agent didn’t deliver on the bookings (to put it mildly) - late at night you can find a tour to book for the next day. I found the people there - even the guys hustling for the tours - to be not pushy, honest and transparent in their transactions - even encouraging me to take their photos and of the money being exchanged. You’ll find them outside Jollibee at all hours of the day and night. The dolphin watching and island hopping tours starting point are also walking distance from the hotel though they will pick you up in any event from the hotel. But it’s a fun walk back to the hotel afterwards, passing the local shops and real down to earth Phillipine life. The Tuk Tuk taxis - really Motor cycles with side cars built around it - are always around for the lazy. But if you can - stroll at night and experience the lively culture just outside the hotel! Other things to do as a day trip of the surrounding areas - Bohol - are the amazing UNESCO proposed Chocolate Hills with the quad bike option, Tarsiers sanctuary (tiny big eyed monkeys - some think they are cute 🙄) and lunch on the Loboc River Cruise. It’s also a relatively short drive - 1/2 hr to the ferry to get to Cebu. So this hotel ticked all the 5 star boxes. Ambiance, luxury, beach front, Phillipine style service, a grand pool, music, food and…location location location!

Excellent location and everything was perfect

Avoid. Customer service from booking to transfers, reception was very bad. I booked the wrong days by mistake and 15 mins later I tried to amend it and it was denied so they kept the money even it was over a month in advance so I have to rebook. I find this extremely abusive and felt they stole the money. My transfer was no ready on arrival even I had to send my arrival details and tickets several times as the booking process is bad. They never pick up the phone adding to numerous phone charges after being on the line for hours. I booked a king bed room but when I got to hotel they messed up and gave me a twin for me and my wife in the noisiest area. The hotel is overpopulated with dirty and outdated pools. It really felt like a fast food chain. And to top it up they messed my transfer on my departure again. Worst experience of my life compared to all the luxury hotel I have been to. I don’t recommend. I should’ve chosen a more authentic accommodation.

The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. Cannot state enough how fantastic the staff was. The property is showing its age a little bit, but it is still in good shape. The included breakfast buffet was fantastic. The dinner buffet which was extra was also great. The room I stayed in was also excellent. The pool was in great condition. Enjoyed spending time in the pool. Short walk to the beach and other establishments on the beach.

Beautiful property right on beach

The ladies at the reception were very professional, and the staff at the bar were extremely friendly and always committed. One negative point, which I would like to note, however, concerns the bar on the beach. In the first two days the service there was not optimal. In addition, we had to wait almost an hour at dinner. After that, the service was very good because we made them aware. Here I see potential for improvement in the work processes. The best example are the employees in the restaurant christinas dining and in the lounge top employees, please keep it up Apart from that we were very satisfied and will gladly recommend this hotel. Great location and great staff! Three different pools which is nice because there are a lot of kids so it's nice to have an adult only pool. Incredible location near everything you'd want. Can't say enough about the staff, everyone was incredible! If I come back this is the place I'll stay again and again.
