Somersal Bed & Breakfast

The hosts were very nice and provided great breakfast as well! The garden and the views were exquisite!

The bathroom was not private and the sink, the shower and the wc were each a different room. However, it was noted in the description that it has a shared bathroom.

Somersal was an excellent choice and our stay was wonderful. Secure on site parking, beautiful gardens, a large and comfortable bedroom en suite, with easy access, and the quiet solitude, all enabled us to have really good sleep after a long international flight. Our hosts, Jenny and John, were delightful and informative without intruding upon our privacy, a balance which very few establishments get right! Freshly prepared breakfasts consisting of fresh fruit juice, fruit, cereals and a hearty cooked breakfast together with really good filter coffee were a delight to experience each morning! Highly recommended and we would certainly return again if ever in that part of New Zealand

Beautiful setting, quiet with just the sounds of birds. Our room was at the end of the house with own entrance so private and calm. Jenny welcomed us and had made muffins 😀 breakfast with John and Jenny was generous with so much choice and great conversation, local knowledge of what goes on in the area impressed us to return when we had more time to explore. And the bed is sooo comfy 🤗

Lovely grounds for children to play in .The kids especially liked the pet lambs and the play hut .

Charming surroundings and delightful hosts.

It was a little hard to find the driveway leading to the cottage, but we arrived after dark and this is a rural area with some houses tucked away from the road. Also, the owners do warn everyone ahead of time that they only accept cash for payment. Due to some computer issues they could not send us such a reminder so we came unprepared and had to drive into town 10-15 mins away to get to an ATM. This wasn’t the owners fault and it wasn’t a big deal to make that trip, but Booking.com certainly doesn’t make it easy to find this information. So this is mostly a reminder to fellow travelers :) Otherwise, again, we had a great experience and wished we could spend more time chatting with the delightful couple that runs this B&B.

There was an abundance of choice for breakfast. We enjoyed the quiet and serene location. With the welcoming and relatable nature of the hosts it felt like we were staying and enjoying time with friends.
