"Disappointing stay and overpriced Restaurant!"

Unfortunately a let down for our stay. The rooms are nice however the shower floods the bathroom. The restaurant staff when enquiring about room service was very rude to my husband when he went to the restaurant to enquire, a lady with blonde hair quickly shut him down and said they dont provide in room dining. However in the room it has a Brochure and menu for in room dining! Very expensive and definitely over priced menu. It is clear the Red Lion restaurant operates seperately from the Hotel, the General Manager needs to review what information is provided to guests in their rooms, obviously the communications between the Hotel and the Restaurant needs to be reviewed.

"An unexpected delight"

Booked a night here as we needed somewhere to break the journey on the way home from Scotland. I had "pub with rooms" in mind so was delighted when we arrived to find the most beautiful hotel room - very comfortable indeed and properly thought through... It's the little touches like a shelf in the shower, another by the sink, plenty of towels, super comfy (and huge) bed. Just lovely. And very good value for money. We had dinner in the Red Lion restaurant and were blown away by how good the food was. Highly recommend the steak and I almost never order steak when I eat out as it's so often disappointing... Not this time, it was so delicious that I considered having it for breakfast too! The restaurant isn't cheap but the quality of the food was superb. The staff in both the hotel and restaurant are obviously very well trained and get the exact right balance between friendly and professional. Having picked this as a stopover, I think it's worthy of being the main destination next time. Thank you!
