Traditional and slightly dated hotel. The accommodation was more than adequate and the food and service excellent. Its proximity to Keswick town centre is a bonus, especially as parking is free. After checkout we were told we could leave our car on the premises for the rest of the day if we so wished.

Would have seen excellent on all if the lifts had been working and been told when we first arrived I have a heart condition and climbing to 3 rd storey with all our gear was to much I had to sit on stairs as I felt faint

Public Areas The public areas are spotless, with multiple lounges where you can relax with a hot beverage or a drink from the bar. The gardens are well kept and provide a pleasant outdoor seating area—you would never guess you’re just five minutes from the town centre. Suite Our spacious third-floor suite offered panoramic views of the fells to the east, south, and west from the seating area. The large bathroom includes both a bath and a shower, with lashings of hot water and plenty of large towels. The bedroom area is generously sized, featuring a super king-size bed that is both firm and quiet. The mirror above the dressing table is the largest and best-located we’ve ever seen in a hotel. The dressing table itself is practical, with space for personal effects and tea/coffee making facilities. There are plenty of electrical sockets and USB ports—including both sides of the bed and on the dressing table. The sitting area is spacious and offers beautiful views over the fells and across the garden. Two sofas and a small table provide a comfortable space to relax or to entertain guests—perfect if you’re travelling with another couple or make friends during your stay. Room Servicing The room was cleaned to a high standard every day, with all items replenished without fail and laid out in perfect symmetry—probably the most effective and consistent room servicing we’ve ever experienced. Dining Meals are made with high-quality ingredients, with a menu that offers a good range of options without being overwhelming. Dishes are consistently well cooked and attractively presented, and plates are always pre-heated—a small but often overlooked detail. There is a good number of wait staff, so service is prompt but never rushed. Staff are friendly, professional, and clearly well trained. Breakfast is buffet-style, with a generous selection of hot and cold items. Everything is replenished regularly, ensuring the food is always fresh. Bar service is also prompt and helpful. While the bar is well stocked overall, there’s currently only one alcohol-free beer and no alcohol-free spirits—perhaps a reflection of the typically older clientele. This may change in future. Summary An excellent hotel where the Victorian architecture has been preserved, while the interior has been tastefully modernised to provide great comfort. The lovely gardens and plentiful guest parking are a real bonus. The location is ideal—close to town but without the noise or bustle. Outstanding service across the board and consistently great food. Excellent value for money—this is a well-run hotel that rightly attracts many repeat guests.
