Plaza Almendros Hotel Isla Mujeres

This hotel is run down. The beds are extremely hard. The air conditioner in my room didn't work and neither did the room outlets so the fridge couldn't be used. I had to use the outlet in the bathroom for everything. Additionally, this hotel is on the main street so it is loud at night. It was my first-time there but I now know there are so many other options that are cheaper and much nicer!

It's located in the heart of Isla Mujeres, with countless restaurants and bars nearby. The staff is helpful and friendly.

The rooms facing Av. Hidalgo were very noisy due to the loud music coming from the bars. After our first night, we changed rooms and it was much quieter. The rooms have a small kitchen area with refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, toaster and tableware. Staff was very friendly and willing to help. Close to everything in downtown and Playa Norte. Good value for the money overall.

If you get a room over the street it’s noisy most of the day and night.

We were without any water pressure for two days...had to wait about 2 hours before we had any pressure but that's not unusual for the smaller hotels. It's a small island and they have laundry to do and many people showering...just a heads up to anyone who has not traveled there. It's pretty quiet at night considering Coconuts is directly across the street... you can still hear the base at times and the music goes until 3-4am so you may want to bring earplugs. WIFI on the premises but does not work very well in your room. You must sit on your veranda or in the lobby. Nice staff and very clean. Excellent value!

We were supposed to spend four nights here. The hotel is located in the center of the busiest part of town. If you're staying in rooms away from the main street, Hidalgo, it's quiet. The staff was friendly and available when needed. The photos you see are a bit misleading. The rooms are spacious, but are very dated and sparse. And though the pool itself is well maintained, the deck isn't near as nice as you're led to believe. It's an awkward mixture of grass and astroturf, and you have a step up to the pool itself. Our biggest problem with Almendros was the bed. The mattress was thin, worn out, and rested on top of a concrete base. Our hips and backs were so sore after one night that we left for another hotel. The nice woman at the front desk was apologetic, but said we couldn't get a refund on the remaining three nights due to it being booked thru Travelocity.

Place needs a good make over and paint job A bit too close to the music/ entertainment as night for a lot of the rooms but I expect it better mid week. Looks like it could benefit from stronger management to get the staff to pull up their socks and make sure the rooms are ready at 3 with towels soap and hot water present. but maybe it makes so much in its condition that they don’t care that the place is going downhill. Very friendly staff, but stay away if you want everything as it should be. Miniature golf around the pool is a complete waste of space , but I suppose it ticks a box in the star ratings.

We have stayed here in previous years... Great location, central to all the local restaurants and shop, perfect for walking around. Very close to everything, including golf cart rental companies to tour the island.

A little hidden gem amongst all the action of the island. Lots of restaurants and bars just outside the door. A kiosk with excursions in front of the hotel offers tours at a special price for hotel patrons. I did the snorkel tour and it was great at only $35.00 which included a nice lunch at a restaurant. Nothing fancy about the hotel but a nice pool and very convenient. The beach is just up the street a couple of blocks and the ferry is a short walk also.
