Three Tuns Ashwell

An historic pub in the centre of the beautiful village of Ashwell. The staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food in the pub was tasty and there were special offers available every evening. Being a listed building, there were some quirky aspects such as the very old stairs and the listed windows. The pub is next to the famous springs. Plenty of parking.

The building looks extremely smart with kerb appeal. The outside area is well laid out and attractive. Our room was well appointed, and looks really nice. The bed was supremely comfortable and I slept very well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was particularly pleased that they catered well for my gluten-free diet, in fact the fish and chips were probably the best gluten-free ones I've ever had.

Breakfast was very tasty, but not served until 9.00, which was a little later than we would prefer.

Well this is a struggle. I suppose I might've put a bit more butter in the mashed potato.

All the staff were really helpful, friendly and courteous. The food is excellent. The village was a lovely place to visit.

The shower was a bit weak but given the age of the building it probably couldn't be helped.

I booked a room here but unfortunately didn't get to stay. I arrived at 11:00 pm, as I finished work at 10:30. I was experiencing car problems. It's in the middle of nowhere, down narrow country lanes. I got lost trying to find it. When I arrived, it was dark. I called the hotel multiple times, but no answer. I sent an email saying I was outside, but no response. I was quite surprised, as it's a pub/restaurant/hotel, I thought someone would be about. So disappointed that I was then left stranded in the middle of nowhere and tried to find somewhere to stay, another hotel guided me back to the Baldock Services. I ended up driving home at 3 a.m. If I had been a guest and forgot my key would they also be locked out?

Location, parking and very helpful staff.our dog was made very welcome.
