Cara Lodge, Comfortable Self Check-in En-suite Guest Rooms

The room was basic, but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was lovely, and there was space to hang clothes and a suitcase rack. Also a TV, kettle and teas and coffees. The location is close to the station, and the town centre.

The room ( number one) faced the road, which is very busy with lots of heavy traffic thundering along day and night, which makes it very noisy and impossible to sleep. There was a lull of about two hours in the night, then it started up again at 3am! So had to check out early to find somewhere quieter. Another issue was the main front door being left open all the time, as was told the lock was broken. This was a worrying security issue, as did not feel very safe, as anyone off the streets could of walked in. A puzzle was the John West tuna can attached to the ceiling ( see pic). Lol.

All the spaces, room, hallway communal facilities were really clean, comfortable and well kept. Being able to use the spacious shared kitchen and dining area was a real bonus.

Lovely huge deluxe room, a modern clean look in a great central location. Convenience shop directly over road, lots of nice restaurants and cafes in walking distance. Free carparking 5 minute walk away. Overall, I am very happy with our stay.

Minor point for us was the early morning traffic noise, as our room was at the front next to a busy road. Maybe because we live in a quiet street, we are not used to it. It's worth noting that there are other rooms in the property that don't face the road, where this wouldn't be an issue.

Spacious and light. Large shower. Close to station and centre. Helpful staff.

No net curtains. Toilet too close to bathroom door.

This lovely lodge is so conveniently located, very comfortable and quaint, just like Berwick upon Tweed. I had spoken to the manager beforehand about our arrival and they ensured we had a smooth check-in. My parents, my husband and I had spent two nights here and loved the calm atmosphere.

Accessibility can be improved for people with disabilities and older adults.

Convenient location, clean, recently renovated room.

If you're a light sleeper, take an eye blind and some earplugs (I always do). It can get light very early, and the curtains are thin. If you're on the street side, you can hear all the traffic.
