Auberge Du Cheval Blanc

More often than not the best stays are at country hotels that are off the beaten track. This was so at the Cheval Blanc. A detour of about 20 mins. found us at a quiet clean hotel with excellent food. The staff were charming and we will most definitely stay again when on route.

The hotel is situated right in the village centre and only has 5 or 6 bedrooms. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, the facilities above standard for this type of hotel. The restaurant was excellent with home-cooked food at a very reasonable price, with friendly excellent service. The facilities are in addition very wheelchair friendly. Overall this is an old-fashioned gem tucked away in a little village.

We stayed in the family room which comfortably slept 4 of us, (2 adults, our 17 year old daughter and 7 year old son). Evelynne was very welcoming and we just about managed with my dreadful O level French! Board games in the lounge and a DVD player in the room were very welcome, as were the coffee and tea making facilities (but bring milk, or ask for it). The food looked fantastic in the evening, but we didn't eat there as my son has food allergies. Would be a fantastic meal out for two! Breakfast was served simply (bread, preserves, cheese, yoghurt, croissant with juice, tea or coffee), but with smile. We loved it.

Lovely friendly hotel in a quiet French village. Room was clean and comfortable. Lovely shower. Swimming pool was very much enjoyed by both us and the kids. Restaurant served very reasonably priced food. Overall, a very nice stay.

A very well presented and clean room. Wonderful meal at the adjoining restaurant-one of the best meals we have ever-outstanding chef. Lovely area to walk around also. Will; definitely return for another visit,

We stayed here on our way from the south of France to Calais and it was a lovely surprise. The room was modern, comfortable, very clean and represented very good value. The owners and staff were very friendly and welcoming. We ate dinner and it was one of the best meals we had eaten in our many travels in France. Traditional French fare, well-cooked, filling and delicious. The owner does speak a little French.

The hotel was easy to find.good parking off road in a beautiful village. When found , please ring the bell on the restuarant across the road. Hostess has no English. Meals in Restaurant were 1st class. breakfast good. There is a small pool at the rear of the hotel. Please use the GPS to pin point location.

We had the family room, it was extremely clean and had a great shower and facilities. The hostess spoke very little English but we managed between us. They were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Very quick to arrange a cot for us at short notice. We used the restaurant which served lovely local French cuisine, the menu has no translation so we swatted up beforehand using the wifi. We do not mind the lack of English translation during visit and menu as it is all part of the experience for us, but another couple was surprised by this!

My partner, and grandparents stayed at this hotel recently during the 2014 Le mans. A our stay was made fantastic by this hidden French Gem!! The hotel was immaculate and the rooms gorgeous, sodden beams and French shutters. Our room over looked the local church which gave a real continental feeling. They included showers, plenty f towels, a very comfy bed, extra pillows and a fridge, amounts other appliances. The cleaner came over day at the ease of our schedule, so we did feel rushed. Pierre and Evelyn, the owners were absolutely amazing, welcoming, accommodating and friendly. Nothing w's too much trouble. The food was exceptional, nice vegetables, as we all know France is full of bread and cheese so a welcome break from eating at the track. I am a vegetarian and they were very accommodating without it being a problem. My granddad a very picky man when it comes to having the right food was won over by the standard of food, especially the flambon. The staff were amazing also a real team. Chantal was our waitress throughout the duration and was truly lovely and professional. I liked the option to eat inside or outside. There was plenty of seating and beautifully decorated. We all can't wait to visit again!!!
