Patterdale Hotel

We loved our time at the hotel. We stayed mid week for four nights. Plenty of beautiful walking routes from the hotel. We did not use the car at all. Our bed room was lovely. We were able to make our own warm drinks. The breakfast was a real treat. The three course meal on an evening was fabulous with plenty of choice. The kitchen was able to cater for my husband who eats gluten free. They produced a gluten free menu every day and there was plenty of choice. The staff are very welcoming and the hotel has a homely feel to it. Drinks from the bar on the evenings. We will definitely come back. We had an amazing time.

I had a 4 Night stay to do some walking. The hotel is perfectly situated. Really good value. The set evening dinner was really nice. Friendly efficient service. My room was warm, comfortable and clean throughout. I would highly recommend.

Great location. Walks from our doorstep. Friendly staff. Our room was spotless & breakfast was of really good quality with good hot coffee. We would stay here again.

Most staff were pleasant. Hotel needs investment, areas looked dated and tired. Bar reminded me of a working mens club. Food was good.

We were there to walk Helvellyn and other surrounding areas. The hotel was perfectly located, friendly staff, great service and good food with all amenities in working and in clean order. Would recommend.

The Hotel’s location is unparalleled with an uninterrupted view across to Ullswater and Place Fell. Ideal location for walkers or people who just want a relaxing break. The Hotel’s decor is a little 1970’s but it’s biggest asset are it’s staff who were polite, helpful and professional. I ate once in the restaurant and the three course meal for £20ea was tasty and good value.

First stay at Patterdale Hotel loved it from the first moment we stepped into the entrance after sanitising hands from dispenser. Receptionist team all very friendly, room with lake view and hills. Comfy bed, quiet room so slept well. Bathroom with lovely toiletries, towels could have been fluffier. As room not being serviced so 'our safe haven' we had plenty of toilet rolls and tea/coffee to cover our trip. Ate in bar one night and restaurant on last night. All staff very prompt to attend and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Holiday cut short by one day due to lockdown. Hotel laid on full Christmas Dinner complete with crackers, and individual presents from the resident Father Christmas - lovely!! Food was amazing and good portion sizes. Definitely be returning next year. Nice that they had bar and restaurant fully open with table service only but very prompt with orders. Hand sanitisers everywhere.

The views from the hotel room are amazing. It is located close to Ullswater lake and you can join many hiking routes straight from the hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant is really good and portions are huge. My only (minor) complaints are that the mattress and pillows were a bit hard for my taste.

A great hotel to stay in to explore the Lakes! The staff were all lovely and very flexible given our slightly later than anticipated arrival time. Would highly recommend!

Pam and I were on a walking weekend with Mark Reid’s walkers. The reception staff were smiley and helpful. The bar staff attentive and kind. We had a lovely meal on the Sunday night Roast beef and trimmings ( would have liked a few more potatoes and veg though). I would stay at The Patterdale hotel again.
