The Walnut Tree Inn

This is such a great pub to stay in. I cannot fault anything. The staff are so friendly and welcoming which is rare nowadays in customer service. The rooms are perfect with so much attention to detail. The food is delicious and fresh. Large portions and definitely value for money!

After a busy week then a 2 hour drive, a great day around longleat safari the Walnut Tree was a lovely place to stay it was welcoming, relaxing, the room was very comfortable, fab bathroom and the food and service was amazing. Really worth a visit we shall defintly be going again. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Very friendly greeting and friendly and helpful staff throughout our stay. The room had all facilities - including a bath as well as a shower - and was clean and comfortable. We visit friends in Mere once a year and will definitely be returning.

We stayed in the Sycamore room which was lovely as well as the breakfast and the staff. I booked through Expedia which sent confirmation that we could check in up to 11.30pm and our room would be reserved for late arrival. We arrived at 11.10 pm and the pub and guest house were closed and in darkness, a couple who we’re just getting into their car asked if we were staying to which we replied yes and they turned out to be the owners! The lady seemed very confused as to why we were so late and said she had “given up on us” and we should have called to confirm late arrival!? When I stated that it says we can check in up to 11.30 she seemed unaware of this and said it shuts at 11pm. We had a very long journey to The Walnut Tree Inn so were just happy we could check in and did not have to find alternative accommodation so late at night which could have happened in the worse case scenario. Contradicting information needs updating by either Expedia or The Walnut Tree Inn and perhaps guests should be called out of courtesy, after all they have paid in full to stay...

Some staff were great and some a lot less so. The hotel was clean and tidy with a decent breakfast

Excellent location for visiting Stourhead. Friendly, pleasant staff and excellent food served all day. We were perfectly satisfied and intend to return next autumn.

Lovely hosts, restaurant food reasonably priced and tasty. Room clean and comfortable. Breakfast choice good and yummy.

Comfortable halfway overnight stop down to Cornwall. Good food and good service. Good access to road network
