The Walnut Tree Inn

Friendly and welcoming staff. Good food and nicely decorated rooms, bathroom was a particularly high standard with a lovely shower!

The 'Walnut' room ( they are all named after trees ) was enormous . Very well equipped and dual aspect. The Inn itself is a little bit away from the rest of the village but within an easy stroll. Well used by the locals , and good quality beers. Food is OK but nothing special.

We chose this Inn because of its proximity to Longleat and its reasonable rates. We needed to leave early on the Saturday but breakfast isn't served until 8. And there was no one around until 7.15. However, when the manager arrived he did offer to cook something early. The meal the night before was excellent and catered for our three year old really well.

The staff went out of their way to see to our needs & comfort. The food was great & the prices were reasonable.

Great location for us as we flew in and out of Bristol and we were visiting the Great Dorset Steam Fair. Additionally we were within easy access to Swindon, Bath, Stonehenge, Longleat and many National Trust places. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We arrived just when the kitchen was closing but kept it open so we could get a meal. The menu was extensive and the food delicious. We needed to check out before 8am and breakfast was made for us. The room was very comfortable with a selection of teas and coffees on a tray.

The accommodation and food in the restaurant was very good and the staff made us feel very welcome. We will visit again!

Nice Hotel and room

The pub is now opposite a new building site, which starts at a reasonable early hour, so some noise can be expected. the rooms are clean and tidy, but share a landing with staff rooms/stores, which means a constant stream of creaking floors and banging doors. when we arrived, whilst appreciating that the pub was busy as they were holding a wake, the welcome was somewhat under whelming, no introductions from staff members met.
