This is the best combined bed, breakfast and restaurant we have stayed in for a short break. We chose the Walnut Tree Inn because it had top reviews and they were absolutely right. We join others who have given top marks for giving service comfort and good food and we would readily stay again and recommend others to do so.

We stayed just one night after a day at Longleat and wished we had booked for longer. There are 3 bedrooms up a flight of stairs and our room, Sycamore, and the ensuite were bright, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We had dinner at the Walnut Tree, I had half a rack of ribs and husband had rump steak. We both agreed they were the best meals we had had in ages. Everything was homemade and cooked fresh to order. The bed and pillows were lovely and comfortable, although I woke up just after 6am as usual. There was a plentiful supply of different teas, coffee, hot chocolate, milk and sugar which tided us over until breakfast at 8am. The breakfast menu was again varied with choices for everyone. We both had the full English which was beautifully cooked with top quality ingredients, although it was large and we struggled to finish it. All the staff we encountered on our stay were very friendly and helpful. Over breakfast we got talking to a couple of women at the next table and we all agreed what a find the Walnut Tree was, none of us could fault it in any way. Definitely a thumbs up from us; Rooms 5*, Location 5*, Food 5*, Service 5*.

Such a lovely place to stay

We stayed in the Walnut room, which was spacious, warm and comfortable. Large bathroom too and everything we needed was available. There were a few minor snagging items with trim in the bathroom but overall, a really enjoyable night’s stay and a truly excellent breakfast, with high quality ingredients, especially the bacon. Staff very friendly and the hard-working Manager couldn’t have been more helpful. Added bonus of the on-site restaurant, where the food was also first class. It is clearly a popular eating place but we had no trouble with free spaces in their own car park. Comfy, large bed. Ask for WiFi Code before going to your room as info binder had not been updated when we stayed.

Large clean room, comfortable beds and nicely decorated. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Great food, good honest pub cooking, huge portions. Good pub accommodation.

We stayed at the Walnut Tree for a family birthday, the bedroom was clean and modern. We enjoyed the meals and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
