"Wonderful hotel in a perfect central location."

10.0

This was a great place to stay in beautiful Bruges! The room was clean and nicely decorated. The hotel management was very helpful, the breakfast was good, and the location was perfect! Bruges is an enchanting picturesque city, and this hotel was right in the middle of it all.

"Nice hotel in centre of town. "

6.0

Very close to sites & amenities. Breakfast a little limited- would be good to include other protein such as eggs and perhaps until 10.30- fresh juice is a nice touch though! Room very clean and bed very comfortable, although walls a little thin so you can hear everything in adjoining rooms!

"Perfect location to explore Bruges"

8.0

Hotel Alegria is in the perfect location for those visiting Bruges - just moments from the market square and all it's sites, plus just steps from many great bars and restaurants, yet not noisy. Even the smallest double room is more than sufficient - very large comfortable bed, tea facilities, curtains to block out all light, modern bathroom, and all very clean and tasteful. Breakfast is fairly standard but buffet style means you can help yourself to as much as you like. Veronique was lovely and helpful, making us feel very welcome. We would definitely recommend - perfect place to wander to and from to see all of beautiful Bruges.

"Expensive and a bit too precise"

8.0

The hotel was fine. The room had a nice view of the roofs of Bruges. There was however a long list of things to remember offered very precisely at check in. Things such as codes and times and the locations of attractions. One had to pay close attention. Generally that was the atmosphere - things must be done correctly in this hotel / shop of some kind. We found the area pricey and with no reasonable alternatives. On Saturday evening all the restaurants were fully booked and all were charging hefty prices. Some had second seatings.

"Mixed and expensive for what it is"

4.0

A mixture of strengths and weaknesses. On the positive side, the hotel is well located near the main square, but has no Brugge atmosphere as such. The room was clean with a well equipped bathroom (though no bath - shower only). Breakfast was weak for the following reasons :- (1) The fresh orange juice that some reviewers have mentioned is there, but is not on the buffet table. One is handed a glass with 1 inch (2.5cm) of orange juice in the bottom - I'm not joking! (2) The buffet table is far too small for the number of guests staying in the hotel. This both restricts the amount of food items available and also makes it difficult to access. (3) Regarding eggs, there is the following notice "Eggs are only available on request...and with patience please". I interpreted this as "Please don't ask for an egg". Looking around, that's how everyone else had interpreted it. (4) Pastries all gone 1/4 hour before stated end of breakfast time. The breakfast offering gives the impression that the hotel is trying to keep food costs to a minimum and this together with having to pay on arrival means that the concept of hospitality has been subordinated to the purpose of revenue collection and maximization. One understands that a hotel is a business, but there is a better balance to be struck here. Back on the positives, the staff were very helpful in giving directions.

"Quaint Brugge Hotel"

10.0

We spent 3 nights at the Alegria in early October after doing a 3 day WWI Battlefield Tour through France and Belgium. Right from our arrival we were made welcome by Veronique and her mother. Our room was great and overlooked the garden. Breakfasts in the lovely breakfast room just off the garden were a real treat. Veronique takes a lot of pride in providing her guests with a healthy start to their day with fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee and plenty of choices of meats, cheeses, pastries, jam, yogurt, salads, etc. We were perfectly located to walk around Brugge and enjoy the sights, restaurants and countless chocolate shops. Veronique went the "extra mile" for us when there was a rail strike in Belgium the day we were leaving by train to go to England to continue our vacation. Thank you to the De Muynck family for a wonderful stay and especially to Veronique.

"Perfection"

Perfect! Great location, everything is within walking distance and the host is just lovely, she couldn't do enough for us. The WiFi connection wasn't great but who needs WiFi when you have such a wonderful city to explore!

"Hotel Alegria a very nice, friendly & handy place."

10.0

This is one of the best receptions we had from our European tour. The owners were very helpful explaining all about Bruge and gave us discount cards for local event. They were very knowledgeable about the whole area and very interesting to talk to. We will definitely use this Hotel again on our next visit. I have posted this as anonymous as I do not want my name on the internet.
