Chantaramas Resort

Great place to stay! 10min taxi from Full moon party which gives you the best of both worlds, highly recommended. Great Pool with a bar too!!!

Beautiful place, clean, spacious room, private beach (although threre was a low tide at the time we were there and we couln't enjoy the beach-month of May). Service was ok but they charge for every little thing. The hotel dosen't provide free shuttle from Thongsala pier on day of arrival to the resort, which it should. The hotel is located 10 min drive from the main beach - Haad-Rin, impossible to walk because of steep roads. Tuk-tuk or hotel shuttle cost 100 baht. The hotel should charge less from its guests. In addition we wanted to print out 6 pages (travel confirmation) and they wanted to charge 10 baht per page...All in all these prices are really not high, but they should come towards their guests. Asked for honeymoon treats/upgrade (we were actualy on our honeymoon) and got none. Breakfast wasn't very rich, a waiter named Kao was very niceand friendly. We left him an envelope with some tip.... hope he got it. Receptionist didn't know English. Restaurant is very good but a bit pricy.

The hotel overall was nice but the service was the worst I've had in a long time. We attempted to eat dinner there 2 nights and both nights either one of our party didn't get their food or the food came out extremely cold. The service is the major issue with this resort. The room provided was placed in the far back also even though we purchased an upgraded room. The resort itself was nice and had nice features, rooms, and it was clean. If you were a family I'd be careful not to go during or around the full moon party due to the type of attendees there.

Well what can I say. Me and my girlfriend stayed here for one night so we could go to the Half Moon Party and it was the nicest place we stayed during our whole trip!! I wish we stayed for longer. The location is perfect (There is a supermarket 5 min walk down the road to the left and a place to eat). The room was HUGE! and the bathroom was even bigger than the room. WOW WOW WOW is all I can say. They serve breakfast right next to the beach, however do not eat in the restaurant because they charge you the tax which means your cheap meal becomes very expensive.

Great hotel. Staff are nice and friendly (although the front desk closed down at 11pm..odd). We went to this hotel last minute b/c of the moon-party and its location is great 100 bhat per person regardless of where you go. Food was good at the hotel (both breakfast and dinner) - we didn't try the pool bar. View is outstanding looks right out to the sea and surrouding islands from pool and restaurant area. Rooms were large with a walk-in closet/bathroom area and outdoor shower...simply beauitful and super comfortable..defintely better than other hotels (where we paid a lot more). Surrounding area outside the hotel is very average but thats the whole island..small shops/restaurants/7-11s...etc. nothing fancy. You MUST try the Fisherman's restaurant...absoltyely fantastic and cute and amazing food...we tried the full seafood menue and loved it (and the crab curry comes as a whole crab...not fillet pieces..) you will not regret getting there and being treated well..in a very comfortable and cozy atmosphere.

Booked hotel for 2 adults and 1 child. Upon arrival the room was set for 2 adults only. Customer service at front desk was insisting that we need to pay extra for bedding / pillow for a child. Even after I showed them that we paid for 3 people, it took couple more visits to and arguments with front desk to get pillow and blanket for a child. The restaurant serves mainly "american" type food, very limited selection of local thai meals Hotel is quite far away from any convenience stores and/or city life. When we were checking out we got charged $10 for broken ashtray (we don't smoke, the ashtray was outside the room on very unstable table). The max price of such ashtray is about $1 in US, probably 25 cents in Thailand. Would never stay at this hotel again.

The hotel rooms were great, I loved the actual hotel itself but the service was terrible. About 5 people behind an empty bar at all times and it takes about 10 minutes for them to open a beer and give it to you. Left the key with the front desk on the night of the full moon party, when i arrived back at the hotel at 1:30am there was no staff around for me to claim the key, waited about 40 minutes, got annoyed and decided to go behind the desk and find the room key myself. This means there is bad security as I was looking for about 10 minutes before I found them. It's making me frustrated just writing this reveiw.

Pros - Relatively close to Haad Rin, decent food, nice pool (not many people in it though), decent price, two showers, staff speaks above-average English (especially one of the guys at the restaurant) and are very friendly. Cons - Older crowd, shuttle bus is infrequent, Koh Phangan is kind of a pit. If you want to go to the "town," ask to go to Haad Rin instead of the actual town (Haad Rin is just as big and much nicer).
