Muthu Clumber Park Hotel and Spa

We had issues on arrival but the receptionist was very nice. She helped us, and the Manager was as helpful as he could be, in finding a resolution after we had big problems with using the spa and facilities.

The deputy manager was rude and dismissive, she seemed very intolerant and not at all keen to support us over issues we had in using the spa. I literally wanted to run away screaming from her. In general the hotel seemed a little scruffy, with peeling paint on all the outside door and window frames, which didn't make the place look very appealing. The spa was an absoute zoo, they had our treatment times wrong, the communication was terrible, they offered us a discount then messed that up, and the whole experience was stressful and upsetting. I ended up cancelling my treatment through the frustration of it all.

Staff on reception lovely and friendly and breakfast staff were amazing. Had a great breakfast, lots of choice. Pool was very warm, sauna and steam rooms good. Showers in spa area and complimentary body wash great. We were in the triple room, loved the decor.

Some of the staff in the spa and restaurant server were a little nonchalant. I get it, they're young and would rather be doing something else, and didn't expect fake enthusiasm, but need to be a little more enthusiastic. Jacuzzi area in pool, not sure if it's limescale but edge where water line is looks grubby and the black loungers round the pool look like they need an upgrade. Food in restaurant was ok, seemed better last time we came, could have used fresh fruit in the Eton Mess.

Delightful setting, food was excellent (dinner and breakfast), pool/sauna/steam room excellent, we look forward to returning

Very warm welcome from the Reception Desk. We were given an upgrade at no extra charge which was wonderful. Lovely service

The staff on reception were very helpful when I had problems with my room on arrival. The spa facilities were clean and of good condition.

Unfortunately the original room I was given had not been cleaned. I then had difficulties with the key on the new room as the keys where not working so they had to come and programme it he door again. The service in the bar was unfortunately very poor due to a new starter being left alone whilst the more experience member of staff was running around.

A group of 5 of us met for lunch, drinks for the afternoon then we had planned to have dinner and drinks before going to the center parcs spa the day after. Having been there all afternoon we went to check in and go to get ready for dinner at this point we were advised there was no availability and we would have to get a take away. We have 2 people with allergies in the group and can't risk take away food. We asked if we at least be able to get bar food as we had no means of going elsewhere due to the location being in the middle of no where. We were told no, I have never known a hotel not be able to feed guests. As there were 5 of us we couldn't get a normal taxi and being in the middle of no where we struggled to any one to come out. We eventually got one to take us to a pub 4 miles away but the whole time was anxious about not getting a taxi back but after 45 minutes of trying we managed to get 2 taxis to take us back as no 6 seaters were available this ended up costing us £35. The 3 in the triple room were ok but me and my mum had booked a twin room and when we got in our room it was a double, we went to tell reception the man said there was nothing they could do as all the rooms were full. The double bed was made of 2 single beds and they didn't even offer to separate them or provide another quilt so we could separate them ourselves. Finally we had breakfast included and we found the standard of the breakfast has drastically fell below what you'd expect - it is now a buffet with really salty cheap ingredients. We have stayed here as a group and as individuals with our own husbands etc many times in the past and its always been great but this time was very disappointing. I believe it might be due to us booking through booking.com

The rooms were clean & tidy. The staff where friendly & the facilities where excellent

There was not much to dislike, however on the evening I went down to the bar area and the service was slow. The had a member of staff on the bar that didn’t know what he was doing at all and shouldn’t have been left on the bar on his own.

All the staff are super friendly and extremely professional. The gentleman on reception that checked me in was extremely helpful and was genuinely caring that everything was perfect for my stay. He was a welcome breath of fresh air after a very long drive. The food here is also of a very high standard and I highly recommend having an evening meal in the restaurant (but please make sure you make a reservation)

The rooms are maybe a wee bit tired and could do with an update. But the rooms are fully functional. The bed was extremely comfy and the room was very clean
