Hotel Red Palm

The pictures on the website look better than the actual rooms. Hotel needs a facelift....badly....the airconditioning did not work and after several phone calls they changed my room.....

Hotel is located in khar west, which turned out to be a suberb of mumbai! Bed was like a piece of wood! Very uncomfortable. There was a big hole in the roof of our room! No sun can enter the room! Also the room always smelled very bad, even with AC on! Only thing was that reciption person was helpful.

Red Palm is nice place to stay for someone with a budget. It looks like they took an older building and modernized it as much as they could. We stayed in the standard room, and it was quite nice. You can notice a bit of the wear and tear on the walls, but the furnishings and presentation of the bed make up for it. Of course the very best thing about this hotel is the location. It is only a 3 minute walk from Khar Road Station, which really takes the stress out of your travels. (Very close to the airport as well)

We chose this hotel after reading the reviews on hotels.com and tripadvisor.com. There were some negative reviews, but the new management of the hotel had responded to all of them individually, explaining that they just took over recently and that they were working to address all of the issues. I'm sorry to say that this hotel is still really QUITE BAD. I would never return here. (To place this opinion in perspective, both my traveling partner and I are quite hardy travelers. We have both camped extensively and have lived in houses and apartments that lack even the basic amenities. But this room was beyond the pale, given that we actually paid a substantial amount to stay in it.) The location of the hotel is great, right next to the Khar Road train station. But the room was COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. The toilet had been cleaned thoroughly, but the rest of the bathroom clearly had not been cleaned after the previous guests; the floor had all of the dried muck from when they showered! The linens were disgustingly stained in multiple spots. The room smelled of mold or rot or God-knows-what. Everything was dingy and in slight disrepair. The room made us cringe every time we entered. Again, we are both used to a variety of conditions, so it is not like we were looking to be pampered. This hotel was simply poorly cared for. Do not stay here unless being near the Khar Road station is your overwhelming priority. It is well worth spending a bit more in order to not feel disgusted.

The Hotel seems to be a makeshift residential apartment converted into hotel. Although for a price you may not expect much with the hotel but I am surprised to see such hotel in Expedia website. Except the lobby, the entire hotel is a maid's apartment.

The only good thing about this place was the location. Being almost right at the Khar West station, access to auto-rickshaws, taxis etc was easy. Also grocery stores and snack shops were withing very short walks. Other than that I can' think of anything that I have a praise for. The rooms are visibly ill-maintained, the air-conditioners are all noisy. The room that we were assigned first had a broken a/c that clogged up with ice in the middle of the night. Then they shifted me to a different room which was small, dingy and fitted with an extremely noisy a/c. I went down to tlk to the manager at the counter who had no word of apology at all, and after a few stern words from me grudgingly gave us one of the two rooms with a balcony. The waiters are all smiles, but you gotta keep tipping them to maintain it. On the eve of our departure the same grumpy manager (Red Palms better consider firing this grouchy haggard if they want to stay in business) suddenly asked me for an extra day's rent! When I challenged him on it, he looked again and found out that he was looking at another boarder's records!! On the whole, I was relieved to check out of the hotel and be on my way to the airport. Recommended ONLY if you want a budget place to us as a night's shelter for a very short duration.

Don't Go On HOW IT LOOKS IN IMAGES ... it looks kool in images .. but really bad in reality , we asked for extra bed and got it after we finished half of our sleep , VERY BAD ROOM SERVICE AND VERY BAD KEEPING OF HOTEL , if you want to save your money go to other hotel, Hopeless hotel , not worth for what you are paying

THE STAFF WAS VERY UNFRIENDLY AND WAITERS AND LUGGAGE BOYS ENTERED WITHOUT KNOCKING. THE SHOWER AND THE DOOR BELL WERE NON FUNCTIONAL AND THE ATTITUDE OF THE STAFF WAS IN GENERAL UNPROFESSIONAL AND IMPOSING. THE QUALITY OF THE ROOM WAS NOT AS PER THE TARIFF. ALTHOUGH THE BREAKFAST PROVIDED WAS TASTY BUT THE ROOM SERVICE LACKS ETIQUETTE. LOCATION WISE THE HOTEL WAS VERY CONVENIENT AND THAT IS ONE THE BIGGEST USP OF THE HOTEL.

This is second time stay. Found better then first. Overall very good experience.
