Having stayed here multiple times, I was genuinely shocked by how far the quality has dropped. Let’s start with the staff: As a current professor at a hospitality and tourism school – and with over 30 years of hands-on experience in leading roles across global hotel and airline businesses – I dare say I have a fairly decent understanding of how hotel staff should behave. I even train them daily. But here... indifferent at best, disinterested at worst. Despite sending the management three messages, I received no reply. When my wife showed one of them at the front desk, she was met with a shrug – apparently the full extent of their customer care. Although both bookings were guaranteed with a credit card and clearly stated that payment would be taken in advance, this did not happen. Instead, the electricity in the suite was simply cut off until I transferred money via a third-party service – and my wife paid in cash. That level of service is – let’s say – creative. WiFi? Only if you're lucky enough to sleep next to the modem. Certainly not in the suite we booked. Breakfast? Extremely basic. And sadly, the staff showed not the slightest interest in their guests. As someone who has proudly reached the highest membership level on booking.com, I truly value their reliability and transparency. That’s also why I feel obliged to inform booking.com that we were explicitly told we should have booked using other platforms – because, apparently, those allow online payments. With booking.com, we were told, that’s not possible. This is, in every possible sense, unacceptable. I travel frequently across Asia and rarely leave negative reviews. But this time, there’s just no way to dress it up: a deeply disappointing experience. Prof. K
