I stayed at Crowne Plaza Chengdu Panda Garden during my time in Chengdu, and it’s a great option if visiting the pandas is high on your itinerary. The hotel is located very close to the famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, which makes it incredibly convenient for an early visit — something I would highly recommend to see the pandas at their most active. The hotel itself is spacious and comfortable, with a more resort-style feel compared to city centre hotels. The rooms are well sized and provide a relaxing place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast was a real highlight, with a large selection of both local and international options. There was plenty of choice, making it easy to find something you like and start the day well, whether you prefer a Western-style breakfast or want to try local dishes. The hotel also has good facilities, including a swimming pool, which is a nice bonus if you want some downtime during your stay. It adds to the relaxed atmosphere and makes it feel more like a retreat than just a place to sleep. The main downside is the location relative to the city centre. It is quite far from downtown Chengdu, so if you’re planning to explore areas like Chunxi Road or other central attractions, you’ll need to factor in travel time, either by taxi or ride-hailing apps. I would recommend Crowne Plaza Chengdu Panda Garden for anyone prioritising a visit to the panda base or looking for a quieter, more relaxed stay. It’s especially well suited for families or travellers who don’t mind being outside the city centre in exchange for comfort and proximity to one of Chengdu’s most famous attractions.

The rooms were amazing. Extremely big and really a comfortable enormous bed . We loved that it was everything Panda !! You can see the Panda base from the room and the view was wonderful. Even the snow capped mountains in the distance The location for the Panda Base could not have been better . The area surrounding the Hotel was lovely. We went to see the Opera and Face Changing show. An absolutely must do.!!

The restaurant on the ground floor let the hotel down. Many things on the menu were missing and the translation was bad . We felt sorry for our waiter who did his best ! It was a shame as we thought that in a hotel like that the food would be excellent. The staff were unable to assist with our questions about the Panda Base ( Times, Guide availability and bookings ) which was odd . Maybe we asked a new employee !
