The Stirk House Hotel

Amazing and beautiful place with great leisure centre

Had a lovely short break at the Stirk house hotel, beautiful surroundings and very comfortable hotel, room with beautiful view in lodge, main hotel tastefully decorated, staff very pleasant, breakfast well cooked, would good back without hesitation.

Just be aware you will not be staying in the 'nice' hotel but a modern annexe which is ok but not the same ambience as rest of hotel, could be a Holiday Inn. There was a wedding staying the same weekend and the bar and breakfast service could not cope with the number of guests in attendance

Really enjoyed our stay. Only downside was waiting an hour for our breakfast. Not enough staff on - only 3 for about 40 people as their had been a wedding on the day before. They also need to train their staff to look behind and under things in the bathroom as under the freestanding bath was filthy and behind the toilet.

We needed to stay here as there was an event on near by. I was surprised that the facilities (pool etc) close early on weekends and don't open early on a morning either so we couldn't make use of them. The room itself certainly did not reflect the standard of the rest of the hotel or the price we paid. It was more like a 90s B&B level. They had made an effort in the bathroom although there was a hole in the door and the shower made an awful racket. Once you went downstairs the hotel was beautiful, comfy and surrounded by lovely grounds. All staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was too late for what we needed but we were very pleased when the chef accepted our request for an earlier siting so we didn't have to miss out. Overall the stay was fine but I would not stay again for the price we paid and would maybe get more value for money on a weekday if I could use the facilities.

Room was much bigger than expected and of a high standard

Country hotel set in beautiful grounds, but modern and comfortable inside, friendly helpful staff and delicious food made for a relaxing short break. This was made even more special by a large delightful room and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on.

The main building at Stirk House Hotel was stunning inside and out. The gardens were well maintained. We stayed in the side building, attempts had been made to update the accommodation with a lovely clean modern bathroom, however the decor in the main room was in need of freshing up. On arrival the room was quite hot, a massive window overlooking the beautiful countryside only had 2 small windows that opened, I would imagine it being uncomfortably stuffy if the weather had been any hotter. We had room service, the food was presented well and it tasted amazing. Breakfast was also of a high standard in a lovely decorated dining area and the service was friendly and professional. Managed to use the leisure facilities before we left, the swimming pool is in need of a re-grouting, the steam room and sauna were relaxing and well maintained. The showers were ok however the water pressure fluctuated and some needed cleaning as there was hair on the floor and talc in the changing room. Even with these slight snags we left refreshed and with smiles on our faces.

This Historic house converted into a cosy hotel is beautifully presented & sits in a garden setting with rooms overlooking fields and walks abound.

Good quite base for exploring the yorkshire dales etc.
