Nice hotel, room OK but there was a half eaten packet of biscuits in our room on arrival. Bar staff excellent. Looked forward to a swim, sauna and steam but the facilities were dreadful. The pool area and changing rooms were grubby and in need of a good upgrade. Very disappointing

"Anniversary weekend"

Amazing hotel ,out in the countryside . Only 1 fault when I went to use the plastic cups in the bathroom there were 3 dead flies underneath. Apart from that fantastic break.

Nice enough hotel - gym very basic but good enough for a quick workout. Could have been better service...i.e. receptionist was very poor in forthcoming with information - I had to ask about everything as she didn't tell me e.g breakfast times, where was the restaurant, wifi code!! Also had to go back in from the car in the pouring rain for barrier code as they didn't ask me if I needed one in reception. Overall a good stay, just lost some points which was for very basic school errors.

"Nice hotel after attending a wedding"

8.0

Lovely setting, mostly good although found previous stayers toothbrush I bathroom, nice large bed but was a bit lop sided! There were two single beds fixed together and they were slightly different heights so my partner & I slept separately most of the night! Not ideal Window had a mark on it where somebody had rested their face looking out Nobody asked at reception on checkout if we had had any issues though so maybe they are used to it!

"Ribble Valley home-from-home; now vegan friendly!"

10.0

Having been staying at the Stirk House on and off for over five years now, it has always been my go-to hotel when in the area; the open fire in the lounge, the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff has always made it feel like a home from home. Having recently become a vegan, however, I approached my most recent visit with some trepidation as, although there were always superb vegetarian options on the menu, I didn't recall anything vegan. I needn't have worried; on my first night I noticed a new main option on the menu - a lightly curried spinach and pea burger with sweet potato wedges - which was dutifully ordered, and very delicous it was too. The best was yet to come. Having asked if I could veganise one of the starters as well (which the chef was more than happy to do), at the end of the meal, he came out and asked if, were I to be eating at the hotel again the following night, I would be happy for them to create a completely vegan 3-course meal from scratch. I was completely bowled over by this level of attentiveness and service, and replied that yes, that would be amazing. What followed the next night was one of the best meals I have ever eaten, vegan or otherwise. So to Steven and Matt, and the whole team at the Stirk House, thank-you. I have always recommended you to all and sundry, but now I have even more reason to do so. Just need some vegan sausages on the breakfast menu and I'll never leave..!

"Very disappointed !!!"

4.0

The rooms smell like an old peoples care home and dirty. Under the furniture had never seen a vac or duster. You can hear the room next door on the toilet! I was very unfortunate to be given the room at the top of the stairs and had to listen to guest all night coming up the stairs chatting and believe me you could hear the full conversation. No privacy at all.

"A gem in the Lancashire countryside"

8.0

We stayed for three nights at Stirk House Hotel. Our main reason to be in Lancashire was to visit family and to attend our Niece's wedding. The location of the hotel is lovely, with grounds to walk in, lovely views across countryside, lots of parking and facilities for guests, and yet convenient as close to A59.

"OK for 1 night"

8.0

Nice enough hotel, was put in the annex, which is OK. Nothing around for miles, so make sure your happy to eat in the hotel. Grand old house but lacke atmosphere and charictar for me. Bed was broken, reported it but can't see how it hadn't been noticed before.
