Good Location for our weekend break

The property needs some improvements, whilst it was clean. Curtains need replacing, no TV control or toilet brush. Dirty windows and outside areas were not nice, cigarette ends on our patio. Towels had bleach marks on them. No outside security lights so when we came back in the dark we could not see to get the key in the door. We were woken up at 1am by a party of people who came out of The Bear Public House, they spent a long time outside the pub, the noise was very loud, I tried to call the manager to complain but didn’t get a response. I called when we arrived home the girl apologised said it was a private party and they were only having fun! She told me she would inform the manager.

"Stay away with the dogs"

5.0

The ease of location to my destination to train on the Sunday was great. Dog freindly and great view. Food on the eve was really nice.

The bed was so uncomfortable . Has definitely seen its day . 8 years its ready for the tip to be recycled. I could feel all the springs. Radiators in bathroom and room not working . Batteries flat in the remote for TV. Could hear next door all night. Found hard to fill the kettle with water. Tea bags looked dirty and in a box full of dust . Would be better with sealed tea bags not open loose ones. No Hair dryer but thats minor. Dirt from outside transfered into the room no mat to wipe feet when entering . A rain storm had flooded the area and there was lots of dirt out side the room door. No outside light when coming to the rooms on eve so was a little dark when going back from meal. No breakfast in the morning. No food in afternoon when arriving at 14.30. Eve food at 17.00pm No where in the area close to get lunch so long drive to Hastings after we had driven for 5 hours we needed refreshments of some sort .

"Quiet, comfortable stay for a short visit to Burwash."

8.0

Our fourth stay here. We find the rooms large, quiet and comfortable with a lovely view from the outdoor terrace. Situated next to Batemans and a footpath leading there ,it is very handy to visit this N.T property. The room has a large bed (somewhat springy this year!), T.V with controls on the side and wi-fi with codes displayed in the room. There is a small fridge and a selection of teas/coffee. We always take our own cafetiere and coffee and breakfast as sadly no breakfasts are available here. Cleanliness has improved this tear and the room has had a repaint. Balcony roof also replaced. We did not eat in this time as we found the quality poor last year.

Lack of breakfast. Poor quality meals last year.

"Very nice you won’t be disappointed"

Clean and tidy…..friendly staff …..great pub with a loverly garden with great views and excellent food.

Unfortunately my outside room was a little close to the back entrance to the pub……I could hear a couple of people still talking just after midnight sitting down smoking………very inconsiderate I thought……….if I stayed again I would asked for a room further away from the entrance.

Shame there's no breakfast and that the windows faced the beer garden, but such a lovely village.

A little bit run down, but good value still
