"Do not stay here. No hot water and unfriendly staff."

1.0

Nothing good to stay

Long list of things. There was no hot water in our room for our entire stay. We were there for brothers funeral and so this was especially upsetting for us. We complained several times and they said they would send a plumber but no one came. We were offered the use of another bathroom elsewhere on the property and it had no soap. The toilet seat was broken, there was no remote for TV, and parking was very difficult to get out of back to the main road . At one point when we complained about the hot water and lack of soap we were told "this is a motel not a hotel". We were shocked. In addition our room was not available when we arrived. We had to wait until around 5 for a room to be cleaned for us... we actually saw them take out the vacuum after we arrived as if they forgot we were coming. How can you leave your guests with no hot water and offer no sympathy at least? We would really like some money back from this stay. No hot water on a very cold rainy day.

"Disastrous"

1.0

Location. Nice pub. Nice beer garden.

Arrived around 4.00pm. First impressions of room were fair for the rating it has - clean, tidy, perfectly functional. If we were being picky we, curtains were hanging loose due to some broken curtain hooks (a simple fix). Big patio doors to a small enclosed area that then led out to the gardens. Perfect as we had our dog with us. It started when the patio doors wouldn’t open. Went back to the bar and was given a key…it didn’t work. Back to the bar. Was given a bundle of keys and asked to try them all. Eventually found one that worked. Time to shower having spent the afternoon digging over my father’s grave… no hot water. Went back to the bar…same guy. Very apologetic & said his brother would go into the loft and ‘press the switch’ which would solve the problem. (he didn’t seem surprised that we had none). Returned to room to kill time while water was being sorted and discovered no remote control for the TV… Headed back to bar to report (apparently it had been stolen so you had to try and put your hand behind the telly and press the buttons blind). Decided to eat so ordered food and to be fair the cod and chips was good (and much needed), staff were very pleasant and the bar was comfortable. Several drinks, a few games of pool and 3 hours later returned to the room - still no hot water!! Back to the bar again to report. The same member of staff that we originally spoke to had just come back and said that his brother was on his way back and would go to the loft and ‘flick the switch’ and that we should have hot water within about 5 minutes of it being flicked (seriously…3 hours we have been waiting by this point and not sure anything had been done !!). 7.56pm we finally hear someone in the loft. 8.10pm we check…still no hot water. Decided to change channels on TV whilst up..lots of blindly pressing buttons, that we can feel but not see, results in subtitles that we can’t switch off and a volume level that even your deaf granny would be pleased with. 8.

"Sorry, but not up to expectations."

1.0

We didn't stay long enough, but the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Firstly, the staff were absolutely fine, but we didn't stay. We paid for the room, but as soon as we saw it, my wife went and sat in the car, and we drove the 2 hours home shortly afterwards. Attempted to get a refund, but haven't heard anything yet.

"Lovely location, but not a good nights sleep"

6.0

The staff were friendly, the rooms looked nice & the views were stunning.

The beds were uncomfortable and mattresses really need replacing. Our room smelt of cigarette smoke which was not pleasant. The walls were very thin & we could hear conversations in neighbouring rooms & there was noise from the pub until very late.

"Very disappointing, left after one night although we had booked for two, we had stayed there several years ago but not a"

4.0

Large rooms and a good bathroom

No breakfast available, limited basic evening menu, no service in restaurant, asked by only the barmaid/waitress to move from restaurant to bar to make it convenient for her, no where in the village to get a breakfast other than local convenience store to buy sandwiches and sausage rolls to take back to hotel room

The room was clean and so was the shower

We had to wait for the room too be cleaned, then they forgot we were waiting The tv remote was missing the girl said it was probably stolen and to use the buttons on the back of the tv, took must of the evening to work out how to change chanel Tap id bathroom made a terrible noise The pub was definately a male drinking pub and was understaffed. Tge bed was on wheels on a laminated floor and kept having tp push it back to the wall...
