What a super place this is! Excellent location, just off Ave. del Prado. Quiet neighbourhood. Wonderful friendly hostess, with time to answer our questions; gave us superb recommendations (for the best fried chicken!), lent us her Teleférico card (which we topped up afterwards). The twin-room was charming and decent size, with a nice hot shower. Parquet floor, charming landing with a bookshelf. We were really pleased with ourselves for booking this hotel.

Not very much not to like, really. Nope, can’t think of anything.

Location is convenient, and 2 female employees were kind and helpful.

We were cheated with the exchange rate by the hotel manager,who charged us the Boliviano to US dollar of 14 to 1 instead of the current black market rate of 10 on that date. That was a 40% overcharge. Rooms were very cold, breakfast was kept to an absolute minimal, hot water in the washroom was only available at certain times. Hotel looks like a decrepit shadow of a past one, now run into the ground by unscrupulous management. Stay away.

Great location in the heart of downtown La Paz, easy to walk to gondola and witches market etc. Staff very helpful and accomodating (let us store bags for 4 days while on Amazon trip, organised taxis and laundry etc). Enjoyed the old hotel feel with authentic antique furniture. Breakfast was simple but nice.

Didn’t like that we were charged a different exchange rate to the official one of 7Bo /$1usd, I booked based on that rate but on arrival was told I had to pay 10 Bo/$1usd because of ‘the situation in Bolivia at this time’ I tried to argue that this was unfair but was just told that on the street it’s 14Bo/$1usd so 10 was fair! It made our stay 30% more expensive than expected so not good value for money by then. Also I was charged an extra half day just to check out a few hours late even though I had paid for an extra night on arrival to check in a few hours early. The breakfast conservatory was nice but not heated so very cold, and the gardens were in disrepair which was a shame as if they were unkept nicely would really add to the old school feel of a historic hotel in the middle of the city. As other reviews have mentioned it was also very noisy in the middle of the city here and the hotel is next to a church and school that seemed to be having brass band practice til late at night every night!
