Room was quiet and clean. Food was good.

Seems like the only working outlet for the kettle is under the desk? I sat on the floor to make some tea. Food service was inattentive. Seems like the kids running the place had better things to do.

Lack of initial privacy later rectified. Lack of kettle socket, had to put kettle on floor.

The George is a lovely old building with great character, and in an ideal location in the middle of the town. The staff were polite and helpful and the breakfast was really nice.

We were booked for two nights and originally checked into room 7, however asked to move on the second night as the room is directly over the bar and very noisy until past midnight. The room smelt very damp and the bathroom is in extremely poor condition with substantial water damage to the walls. There is mould growing on the ceiling and should not be available for letting. The bed has a very thin mattress which has no support. The bedroom bins hadn't been emptied from the previous guests. We were moved to room 12, which was a much nicer room. The gentleman who delt with our request to move was very helpful.

The room was not made up after our first night and the tea and milk not replenished.

Very friendly staff. Also went out of their way to apologise for including an ingredient in my dinner that I am intolerant to. Good pub atmosphere. The breakfast was excellent!

The bedroom was tired and dark. The bathroom was in a poor state - the bath had rusty cracks. The building did not look like the pretty thatched pub it used to in its pictures.
