Sokhalay Angkor Villa Resort

Convenient location for my needs as I was attending a conference however it was out of the way for my family who wanted to be closer to the social centre.

The resort is still in semi shut down following Covid. This means that not all facilities that are advertised are available. The bar only stocks beer and wine ( limited in choice) as well as an extremely limited room and pool service menu. Rooms were serviced daily, but still a lot of dust and overlooked issues such as not replacing handtowels. The property is in a state of disrepair and nothing is being done to fix things, such as broken tiles around the swimming pool which is quite dangerous and had one guest actually grazing his shin badly when he fell into the cavity. This resort has decided that it will make most of its money by catering for tour groups and hence focussed on catering for masses rather than making it an enjoyable stay for individuals as well.

Amazing pool and outdoor area. Very large and comfortable room. Lots of places to sit. Nice big buffet breakfast. Beautiful buildings.

No vegetarian options in the restaurant at all (credit to the staff member who offered to cook us up something vegetarian). It seemed like only half of the place was open.

The resort still has not recovered from COVID and the on-site restaurants were not open for dinner (only room service), and the gym and spa had fallen into complete disrepair and were totally mouldy.

The staff is so polite and helpful. The resort is really big and well managed. Breakfast spread was lovely.

Seclusion of villa

Had to walk quite a distance to the lobby and breakfast area.

Breakfast was decent with local fruits and breads, eggs and hot selection. The rooms were large with a large bed. Bathroom was dated but also adequate.

Mosquitoes were a problem although there were mosquito screens available on the windows and patio door.
