The Richmond Bed and Breakfast - Adults only

Booked this trip as a retirement gift for my mother and her partner. They had nothing but good things to say about their stay. Friendly, clean and tonnes to do round about.

We booked this B&B on the recommendation of our friends who moved to the Isle. They had stayed here before and their recommendation was on point. The owners were professional and helpful and we were able to park on the front drive. Checking in was a doodle and after arranging breakfast we were shown to our room on the first floor; it looked out at Regent Street. You can see the owners have not only invested in the property but they have given thought to what is needed when staying at a B&B. Not only is there plenty of storage space, a hairdryer and sewing kit but you get makeup removing eye wipes to sanitary bags. You can make a cuppa in your room with a huge range of teas and coffees including Decaffeinated coffee including plenty of milk and sugar For those - like me - we had a shower that was definitely not cold! You get shower gel and hand soap if you've forgotten yours! A TV is provided in the room which is a godsend for me because I don't sleep very well. The bonus is it had a timer I could programe so I could go to sleep with it on. Breakfast : Take your pick! They had fresh juice, tea and coffee and yes they had decaffeinated! My husband had an English fry up both days and I had poached egg on toast. There were cereals, today, fresh fruit and yoghourts. All in all... First class. Will we return? Absolutely!

We enjoyed staying at the Richmond Bed and Breakfast. Nice location and warm hospitality.

It is a fabulous building with fantastic breakfasts, you can order your breakfast based on what you like. They have enough options for you and detailed to egg style and drink choices. The room has free biscuits, tea and coffee, with shampoo and shower gel samples. It provided very clean and tidy rooms, the experience here is fantastic and very comfortable!

There are a lot of rules and things that should have been highlighted earlier in the booking process/ in the description rather than being buried in the small print. Being told 4 days before my visit that the room (6) I booked for 3 nights is not recommended for stays of more than 2, is not helpful! At the point I booked there wA only this room available so it’s the only one that showed on the site and was just marked small double, no indication of just how small! Breakfast is served within a very very narrow window (8.30-9), so if you want to go out early you’d have to skip breakfast. There is no guest lounge or areas outside of the room and thus we were confined to a very small room and had to sit on the bed to watch the TV (which also had the subtitles stuck on until I retuned it!). Parking is very tricky even when available and I’m certainly glad I hadn’t travelled in my 4x4 vehicle as the back spaces are very tight!! The booking.com site simply says ‘parking’. Although it was largely clean, it did need some attention to finer details like dusty radiators and door frames, mould round shower door etc that people often overlook. At times I felt more like I was an inconvenience as opposed to a guest. Nice enough for our short stay but I wouldn’t return.

I would have liked fresh towels at least once during our stay. We were told they would be changed every 3 days but this did not happen. Everything else was fine
