"Great hotel, food not great"

8.0

Hotel and entertainment was amazing, our room was lovely and freshly renovated. Food let the hotel down as it wasn’t great and we went out for food 3 nights to get a break from chips. Reception and bar staff where really nice and helpful.

"Great"

10.0

Just back as a family of 6, all positive, great location, close to beach and main town centre, 4 pools all very good, food good especially the pizzas, made fresh in front of you. The slides at pool would really be aimed at younger kids, from 9/10 years down, but we knew that before arrival. Western Water Park is definitely worth visiting with family, only 15 mins away. Transfer provided by hotel on certain week days and we received free ticket entry aswell from reception. Entertainment and shows very good, we didn't use the kids club ourselves. Rooms well serviced and towels changed most days in fairness, got late check out at cost of €75 which was well worth it for us to keep all our belongings together and shower in the evening before late flight home(this might not always be available), there is also complementary shower service provided and locked room for suitcases to be left in before checking out. Overall a great experience, all staff very helpful and hard working. Just to note for all inclusive, this includes, soft drinks, beer(draught) and spirits, the cocktails I tried that are ready made didn't taste great, a cocktail made fresh costs about €10 and are really good, there is lovely ice-cream that you can get at buffet meal times but outside of that you pay extra to get individual ice-creams at the bar. Definitely head to Pirates Village for a lovely family holiday.

Our whole family really enjoyed the stay. The surroundings were beautiful, with pools, water slides, and an excellent program every day. The entertainment activities were perfect, and so was the entire staff.

"Not the All-Inclusive Family Holiday We Paid For"

4.0

We have just returned from a 10-night all-inclusive stay at Pirates Village, Santa Ponsa, booked through Jet2. We also paid almost £400 extra for a ground-floor family room with terrace. There are some genuinely positive aspects to this hotel. The location is excellent, with the beach, shops, bars and restaurants all within a few minutes' walk. The entertainment team work incredibly hard and the entertainment itself is fantastic. Special mention must go to Shaman Pirate, who was hilarious and brilliant with the children. Diana, Emily and Alex were also always friendly, helpful and a credit to the hotel. Unfortunately, the positives were outweighed by a number of issues that left us extremely disappointed. Family Room Not Suitable for a Family of Five We paid extra for what was advertised as a family room, yet the sleeping arrangements were completely inadequate for a family of five. The room consisted of: One bedroom with two single beds. A sofa bed in the living area. A pull-out mattress underneath the sofa. A fold-out cabin bed. The pull-out and fold-out beds were extremely uncomfortable, with metal bars clearly felt through the mattresses. We actually had to cut our own mattress topper in half so our son could sleep more comfortably because the metal was digging into him. My husband ended up sleeping on the sofa for much of the holiday. The room itself is very dated and in desperate need of refurbishment. Poor Housekeeping Housekeeping was inconsistent throughout our stay. Some days towels were replaced, other days they weren't. There was no reliable daily cleaning service and we repeatedly had to visit reception to request clean towels. On one occasion we were told there were no towels available and to come back in an hour. Unfortunately, we had a taxi booked to take us to a show and needed to shower beforehand. Ants in the Room There were ants regularly appearing on the kitchen worktops. I constantly felt the need to clean surfaces and it left the room feeling unhygienic. Air Conditioning and Safe Not Working Properly The air conditioning struggled throughout our stay and did not cool the room effectively, which made sleeping even more uncomfortable. The room safe also did not work properly. Broken Facilities Many of the facilities were poorly maintained. The arcade contained machines that did not work, resulting in disappointed children after spending money on them. Both pool tables were unusable and several of the pool cues were missing their tips, making them impossible to use properly. Not Truly All Inclusive This was by far our biggest disappointment. We stayed at Pirates Village around eight years ago and it was a much better experience. Sadly, it feels as though the hotel has gone downhill considerably. We specifically paid for an all-inclusive holiday, yet it simply does not feel all inclusive. Ice creams, ice lollies and sweets for children are charged extra, often around €4 each. Families budgeting for an all-inclusive holiday should not be constantly reaching for their wallets. Throughout the day and evening there are long queues at the bar simply to get a drink because there are no self-service drinks stations available. After queuing, we were regularly told we could only have two drinks per person. Paid Entertainment Seating Another major frustration was the entertainment seating. To properly watch the evening entertainment, guests are encouraged to pay €40 for a table. We felt pressured into paying this so our children could comfortably see the show. However, despite paying €40, the service was actually worse than on the free tables. Plates were left piling up and nobody came to take drink orders. The package supposedly included a bottle of wine, but as we don't drink wine, I asked if the children could have sweets instead. Two bags of sweets eventually appeared with no explanation or communication. Poor Treatment by Staff While some staff members were excellent, others left us feeling extremely uncomfortable. One particular incident involved Carlos discussing an issue regarding our seating arrangements with another family whom he appeared to know personally. This conversation took place within earshot of us and felt highly unprofessional. Another member of staff, Beverley, repeatedly challenged where we were sitting during entertainment. I was attempting to sit with my young children because they were anxious about being separated from us. I was moved from one seat, then when another family kindly offered me a spare chair at their paid table, I was told I could not sit there either. The entire experience was embarrassing and left me feeling like a naughty school child rather than a paying guest. Departure Day The issues continued right until the end of our holiday. After checking out in the morning, we were informed that we could continue using the hotel facilities until our evening airport transfer. However, when we asked for towels to use around the pool, we were told we could not have any because they were "shower towels". We were advised to walk across the road and buy towels from a local shop if we wanted to continue using the pool facilities. For a family remaining on site for many hours before a late transfer, this felt unreasonable and disappointing. Overall Pirates Village still has fantastic entertainment, a brilliant location and some wonderful staff members. However, management appear to be prioritising additional revenue streams over guest experience. The hotel no longer provides the all-inclusive experience that many families expect, the rooms are tired and uncomfortable, maintenance is lacking, and customer service is inconsistent. Sadly, despite having wonderful memories from a previous stay here, we would not return and would struggle to recommend it to other families in its current state. Rating: 2/5 ⭐⭐ The entertainment team deserve 5 stars. Unfortunately, the hotel itself does not.

"Fantastic family holiday"

8.0

Lovely clean room, the children especially loved that they could change the colour of the lights in their room. The entertainment was fantastic for the children and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The view for adults of the shows in the evening isn't great. You have to pay extra for a table will a view of the stage. Also the entertainment have a day off on a Wednesday which seemed strange as it wasn't a change over day so we only had 5 days of evening shows. Location wise it is a short walk to the beach but if you are thinking of heading on excursions they are all at least an hour away. We went to the water park and Palma aquarium and thoroughly enjoyed both with our 3 children. Finally food, it's quite repetitive but after the first few days we worked it out and managed to ensure that the children didn't just eat pizza for lunch and dinner every day. The fresh cooked eggs, bacon and pancakes in the morning were particular favourites. Overall we had a fantastic time, it was our first family holiday abroad and it really did tick all the boxes. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We would recommend.

"We don’t want to leave!!!! :’("

10.0

Less than 5 minute walk from cute little cove. Super child friendly, if you don’t like kids having the best time of their lives (noise, splashing, running around, laughter) then don’t come. Warm, welcoming atmosphere. Room was clean. Our room was at the front of the hotel facing the main road the lights from the front of the hotel was quite disturbing during the night and noise from passing traffic. Also families arriving at all times of the night and kids running up and down (as expected). We found this was a small price to pay for the incredible view of the stage that allowed us to bring a toddler up early and watch from our balcony while she slept. Love the fact there was a kids loo and sink in the main part of hotel. Love the fact the hotel isn’t huge. Feels very safe and family oriented. Only issue we had is that my partner is vegan and the food wasn’t clearly labelled or many options. He ended up eating fish as he felt dissatisfied with what he could eat. Kids club crew were fabulous my kids wanted to go every day :) The pirates are so talented and interact beautifully with the kids. The shows are top tier! The most exciting thing was the pirate attack on Sunday an unforgettable experience I will talk about for the rest of my life! Special mentions: Alex (waiting staff), Bev and Kids Club Crew Already working out dates for our return!!!

"A great day pass option but a little pricey."

8.0

My husband and I recently visited Pirates village on a guest day pass. We purchased a day pass at £60 per person to spend the day with family staying there. The pass allowed us access from 10.30 until 6pm. We had a fab day visiting and spending time with family. Facilities are great but for us as adults without children a little wasted. Food at lunch was delicious, staff where amazing and really looked after us. We definitely didn't see the value of the 120 euro we spent. We where also horrified to then have to pay for an alcohol free beer. Terrible for a diabetic who doesn't drink alcohol. I wish we could have stayed to see our nieces in the evening show but for the memories of time spent with family, pricesless.

"Brilliant hotel for young kids"

10.0

We booked a last minute 6 day break at Pirates Village to take two of our grandchildren on holiday. What a great choice. We went self catering so I can't comment on the food. The 1 bedroom apartment was small but clean. The pools were brilliant. One had small slides for kids only. All the pools had lifeguards who were very on the ball. The evening entertainment was amazing and the kids were well looked after in the kids club if needed. Sunday afternoon ended with a mass water fight between dozens of kids and the hotel pirates. All the self catering apartments face the stage so we had a balcony view every night. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It's only a 5-10 minute walk to the beach and seafront area where there are numerous nice restaurants and bars. there are also a few small supermarkets nearby. We would definitely go back.

"Fantastic May Holiday"

8.0

We visited Pirates Village during the May school holidays ourselves a family of 5 and another family of 4 with us. We had a superb time! The pools are fantastic including slides and some are heated with lifeguards on site at all times. The food is good - we went all inclusive! Entertainment is amazing! Shows every evening apart from 1 with the pirates, mini discos and more! The also do a range of daytime activities including Mermaid Lessons! Hotels rooms are your basic holiday room but what more could you need! Although we were all inclusive they still have facilities for self catering in the rooms. Only had an issue with the shower water stopping but that can be expected during busy times such as just after the pool closes! Overall we had a blast and will definitely visit again!
