Palazzo dei Mercanti - Historical Residence

Ascoli is a wonderful and practical city to stay for visiting Marche and North Abruzzo. This hotel is the best choice in the city. Better food can be found by venturing out of Ascoli but it's a great place to stay.

This hotel is lovely, especially when compared to hotels one finds in other Italian cities that are slightly off the usual tourist grid. The staff could not have been more helpful. They secured a restaurant reservation at Piccolo Teatro restaurant, very nearby, where we had the best meal of our 2 week trip to Italy (and we went to quite a few highly reviewed places in both Venice and Rome). The room was tastefully decorated and very quiet. The location couldn't be better. It's not the lux you find in Venice or Milan or Rome-but those types of hotels don't exist in these types of cities. And Ascoli Piceno is a jewel. If you want to experience Italy like it was 20 years ago, when it wasn't swamped by (fellow) American tourists, Ascoli Piceno is the place for you, and Palazzo dei Mercanti is the place to stay.

We were travelling in Italy and stayed in six different Italian cities/towns and this was our favourite hotel in our favourite town. Lovely helpful,smiley staff. An excellent location, smart and stylish bedroom and delicious breakfasts. Ascoli Piceno is a lovely town in Le Marche region of Italy and so well worth a visit - highly recommended

We would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Ascoli Piceno, It's right in the middle of the old quarter of town with many restaurants and shops within a few minutes walking. Our room was spacious and modern with a beautiful large bathroom and very clean. The staff were extremely helpful and obliging with recommendations and making reservations in restaurants. When we return to Ascoli we will definitely be staying at this hotel again.
