Authentic building built in 1800s, the staff was super attentive and the food delicious!

We liked the location walking distance from the Kyoto station. We loved the traditional room and the clothes provided for us. Sleeping was comfortable and so was the overall temperature of the room and the facilities. Our favourite part of the stay was the breakfasts as well as the kaiseki dinner (ordered separately). Would absolutely recommend anyone staying at this ryokan to book the kaiseki dinner as well - it is a food and culture experience worth having. The owner of the ryokan (7th generation Izutsu Yasujiro) prepared the meal for us and explained the history of the ryokan to us afterwards.

Honestly hard to say anything we didn't like. It was one of our favourite 2 nights in Japan. With hotel stays and onsen visits included the accommodation was excellent. The dining experience was our favourite (we also had sushi omakase in Tokyo and a fine-dining experience at a restaurant by NOBU as comparisons).

O hotel tem funcionários estrangeiros então facilita muito a comunicação. O café da manhã estava incrível. Apesar da área de banho ser fora do quarto e com horário marcado, não atrapalhou nem um pouco a nossa hospedagem. O quarto era incrivelmente espaçoso (raro nas acomodações do Japão) e muito bem equipado. Vale muito a pena pagar pela experiência do kaiseki. A comida estava excelente e foi muito bom escutar sobre a história do hotel.
