George Inn, Mere

Lovely place to stay if visiting Longleat and Chedder Gorge. Food in restaurant excellent- mostly home made and delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bed in room 6 very small and uncomfortable. Room also very noisy as overlooking street with street noise and clock chiming. After 11.30 we found the street went quiet. Rain shower only in bathroom and no shower cap provided. Luckily I took my own. Breakfast plentiful if you like like full English but no fresh friuit, cheese or cold meats. We did enjoy our stay and would return if we were ever in the area again

Had a very enjoyable stay. Well looked after, stayed in clean and comfy accommodation. Good food (including breakfast). Nice location, very convenient for visiting places like Stourhead House + Gardens and Longleat House and Safari Park.

The George was clean and tidy and welcoming. However the clock right outside telling you the time every hour 24hrs a day along with the early morning delivery and custom at the shop opposite made it easy not having town about seeing your Alarm.

Noisy Saturday night until 12.30pm Friend couldn't make the stay so had to travel as single occupancy, twin room. I was told if I had rung I would have gotten the room £5 cheaper. Was approached in the busy bar in front of a friend that told my payment for the hotel done on line had been declined. So to save embarrassment I paid on debit there and then. At breakfast I sat by the window and was asked to move to another area, with 2 seats further down the breakfast area there was only me and a party of 4 others in the resturant. I felt like child at school. I had to ask about breakfast and check out times , the only information was on a sign at the back of the door. I paid to stay at This hotel and received pretty less than average service. Would I stay again? Not really can't recommend.

Located in Mere, not Warminster, in case there is confusion. Recently renovated. Good parking. Great bar and restaurant. Comfy rooms. Friendly staff. Wifi touch and go during my stay, probably best not to rely on it. Overall, 4.5. Very good.

Very attractive inn..Staff very helpful and friendly. Evening meal exceptionally good. Really enjoyed our stay. Would love to return for a longer stay. Thoroughly recommended.

The staff were very accommondating, the room was a great size and the pub is lovely. We were very pleased with our room, which was beautifully decorated and plenty of roomfor our family of 4. I very much enjoyed having a soak in the roll top bath. The room was clean, comfortable and have everything we needed. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked very good. I would reccomend having dinner in the pub, as the food is fantastic quality, rustic food for a reasonable price.

A lovely little pub, with a good room, with good quality furnishings and a very modern bathroom. Breakfast was very generous with a good choice of cooked food and cereals. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ate dinner in the pub both evenings and we were happy with the choice and quality. There wasn't much else in Mere itself but there was an Indian restaurant that we spotted for other dinner options.

Shower in room needed. Had a room sleeping four. Great room except getting four people ready in morning with only a bath is not easy.

We stayed one night at the George Inn after visiting Longleat and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely staff and a beautiful, sensitively renovated building in a great location. We would definitely stay again if we're ever in the area!
