George Inn, Mere

Ideal situation historic pub in centre of Mere, comfortable room , very comfortable bed , excellent breakfast, friendly hosts

Good location for our visit.Friends 60th party in next village.Lunch and breakfast were good and early evening drinks before leaving for party.Able to check in early and get some well needed rest after travel from Cotswolds.

Excellent old building that has obviously been completely refurbished to a good standard. Nice log burning open fire in the bar. Excellent breakfast in a nice, roomy dining room.

Lovely hotel, room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Food was lovely too. Staff very friendly and helpful.

I had Room7 - bath, no shower. Very clean and comfortable. Good breakfast, excellent coffee. I had a beer in the bar when I arrived (not for breakfast!) - perfect.

A very pleasant stay, ideal accommodation for seeing Longleat and Stonehenge.

Lovely old pub and welcoming staff. One of the best breakfasts ever! Just a shame the delivery of evening meal took a while due to what appeared to be only one chef cooking.

myself and my 2 adult children had a one night stay here. we had also booked a table online. The food was excellent and we didn't have to wait long at all. our waitress was very polite too. All staff were very polite and friendly. The inn was a lovely old building from the outside, but the room although had period furniture, it was very nicely renovated. The bed linen was excellent with plenty of extra pillows. The en-suite was very clean and towels were lovely and fluffy. We had a good nights sleep, and went down to breakfast. It was a very lovely meal again with a choice of cooked, cereal, fruit and yogurt, pastries, fruit juices and tea and coffee. We had a full country breakfast which was very delicious and my daughter enjoyed her toast as it was lovely thick crusty bread that they used. I would highly recommend this and if i was ever in Mere I would definitely stay there again

No complaints at all about The George Inn. But - Expedia - you missed advertised this as being located in Warminster when in fact it was miles away in Mere!! By the time we discovered this - it was too late to cancel so we were stuck with what was not an ideal location for us.

Our room and bathroom spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast with plenty of choice. Staff friendly and welcoming. The room has original windows, but with very efficient secondary glazing. Iights in corridors and bathroom are sensor driven.
